Hourly maid service explained: who uses it in Riyadh?
Hourly maid, part-time maid, cleaning lady by the hour: all three names describe the same thing, a housekeeper who spends a fixed block of time in your home, gets the cleaning and tidying done, and goes. There is no sponsorship, no room to prepare and no meals to provide. You pay only for the time you book, whether that is a single visit before guests arrive, one fixed visit every week, or two or three visits a week on a monthly package.
In Riyadh this has become the practical choice for many households. Couples who both work come home in the evening to a flat that needs attention. Families in large villas need an extra pair of hands on certain days rather than all month. Expats and professionals living alone in a one- or two-bedroom apartment usually need no more than two to four hours a week. And after a dusty spell, a single visit can put the whole house back in order without anyone giving up their weekend.
The service also suits people moving into a new home who want it cleaned before the furniture arrives, hosts preparing for a gathering, families tidying up after an event, and households that already have a live-in helper but need extra support during Ramadan or before Eid. In every case you choose the hours and the tasks; transport there and back is on us.

Hourly maid prices in Riyadh: what will I pay?
Expect to pay from SAR 138 for four hours with one maid in Riyadh, from SAR 92 for two hours, and from SAR 234 for a full eight. Those figures are where pricing begins; your total follows the hours, how many maids come, how big the home is, and morning versus evening.
Our complete Riyadh price list:
| Visit type | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| 2-hour visit | Enough for a single job: ironing, bathrooms or the kitchen | 92 |
| 4-hour visit | One maid; the length most apartments book | 138 |
| 5-hour visit | A large apartment or a full floor, including laundry | 184 |
| 6-hour visit | Small villas, duplexes, or a flat that needs extra care | 204 |
| 8-hour visit | A whole villa, a move-in clean, or the day after a big gathering | 234 |
| Extra hour | Added when you book or before the visit starts | 52 |
| Two maids for 4 hours | A large job finished in roughly half the time | 296 |
| Monthly plan, 4 visits | Four-hour visit on one set day weekly | 468 |
| Monthly plan, 8 visits | Four-hour visits on two days weekly | 885 |
| Monthly plan, 12 visits | Four-hour visits on three days weekly | 1,325 |
What moves the price up or down? First, hours: each extra hour adds to the visit. Second, the number of maids: two maids working together finish a large villa in about half the time. Third, the size and condition of the home: a house after renovation, or one that has been closed up for months, needs longer than a flat cleaned every week. Fourth, timing: an evening slot, a Friday or a public holiday can carry a different rate, and you hear about it at booking, never afterwards.
Note: If you have something out of the ordinary in mind, such as sorting out a full storeroom or preparing a home for a large event with several maids, ask about the price on WhatsApp and describe the job; we will come back with a sensible length and team size.
Monthly visit packages: which one fits your home?
Think of a monthly package as your visits pre-booked for the month: four-hour slots on fixed days, from SAR 468 for four of them. It is not a live-in arrangement or an annual contract; it is simply a fixed schedule that saves you booking every week, with the maid still arriving and leaving on the same day.
This is how the three packages compare:
| Package | Schedule | From (SAR) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 visits × 4 hours | One fixed day each week | 468 | Small or mid-size apartments that need a weekly clean |
| 8 visits × 4 hours | Two days each week | 885 | Families with children or frequent guests |
| 12 visits × 4 hours | Three days each week | 1,325 | Large villas or busy homes that need frequent tidying |
The clearest benefit of a package is that your home never reaches the point of needing a “big clean”. Dust is removed before it builds up, laundry and ironing are handled as they come, and the kitchen stays usable all week. Many households start with one visit to see how many hours their home really needs, then switch to a package.
Packages also make it simpler to keep one familiar maid whenever she is free. Over a few weeks she gets to know your cupboards and your standards, so you spend less time explaining. Need to shift one week’s visit? A WhatsApp message a day or so ahead is all it takes.

Is hiring an hourly maid legal in Saudi Arabia?
Yes. An hourly maid is legal when she comes through an entity licensed to provide labour services. Renting a domestic worker from a private individual, or using a worker who has left her sponsor, is a violation, and the household can be penalised too. That is why every maid we send holds a valid iqama, is trained, and dresses modestly on the job.
Supplying workers to other households is regulated by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development under its recruitment and labour-services rules. Under Article 15 of the Domestic Workers Regulation, a sponsor may not allow their housemaid to take outside jobs or freelance. Put simply, “a maid a neighbour lends out” is not a legal option, however tempting the price.
These are the main published penalties, with the source that states them:
| Violation | Published penalty | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Sponsor allowing their housemaid to work elsewhere | Fine capped at SAR 20,000, or being barred from recruiting for as long as three years; repeat cases are doubled and the bar can become permanent | Domestic Workers Regulation, Article 29 |
| Housemaid taking work outside her sponsor | Fine capped at SAR 2,000 and/or exclusion from working in Saudi Arabia | Domestic Workers Regulation, Article 30 |
| Hiring, driving or housing someone in breach of residency or labour rules | Prison of as long as six months, a fine reaching SAR 100,000 for each person involved, and removal from the country for expatriates | General Directorate of Passports |
That regulation also caps a housemaid’s actual work at ten hours in a day, requires a break after at most five straight hours, and rules out hazardous tasks. This is one reason the 4-hour visit is the market standard and longer visits include a short rest. Enforcement is real, too: the Ministry has reported 568 decisions against violators, among them penalties on 222 sponsors whose housemaids were working outside.
Warning: Never let a worker into your home if you do not know who employs her. If someone offers you a “freelance” maid at a low price, the violation is yours as well. Violations can be reported through the Musaned platform channels.
Which household jobs can an hourly maid handle?
An hourly maid cleans and tidies the house, washes dishes and organises the kitchen, cleans bathrooms, washes, irons and folds clothes, wipes windows on the inside, vacuums majlis seating and rugs, and dusts throughout. For gatherings she prepares the hospitality table, helps with serving, and restores order after everyone goes home.
Living areas and bedrooms
Sweeping and mopping, dusting furniture, shelves and ornaments, straightening cushions and bedding, and wiping handles and switches.
Kitchen
Washing up, wiping counters and marble, cabinet fronts and the hob surface, and cleaning the sink and floor.
Bathrooms
Basins, mirrors, toilets and showers, removing water marks from taps, and wiping nearby walls and floors.
Laundry and ironing
Loading the machine, pegging out or drying, pressing thobes, abayas and school uniforms, folding and storing them.
Majlis and rugs
Vacuuming rugs and carpets, arranging floor seating and sofas, and preparing the majlis before visitors.
Gatherings
Setting out coffee and refreshments, helping to serve, and clearing dishes and cleaning up afterwards.

To get the most from your hours, list the jobs in order of importance. If the kitchen and bathrooms matter most, start there; if you have guests in the evening, the majlis, living room and guest washroom come first. The maid follows your order, and near the end of the visit you can walk through and point out anything you want redone.

Laundry and ironing are among the tasks Riyadh residents request most, especially in homes with students and office workers. Work clothes and school uniforms pile up quickly, and two hours a week of ironing alone can be enough, or it can be combined with cleaning in a 4-hour visit. Tell us in advance about any garments that need special care so they are handled your way.
Jobs outside an hourly visit
An hourly visit covers cleaning, tidying and laundry. Left out are full meal preparation, minding kids or older family members with nobody else at home, risky jobs on ladders or outside walls, shifting heavy furniture, and washing big yards, pools or gardens with a hose. Being clear about this protects both you and the maid, and keeps the time for what you actually booked.
This table shows what is included, what is not, and the practical alternative:
| Task | Included? | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning rooms, living areas, kitchen and bathrooms | Yes | The core of every visit |
| Laundry, ironing and folding | Yes | You can book a 2-hour visit just for ironing |
| Windows from the inside | Yes | No exterior facades or work at height |
| Preparing hospitality, serving and cleaning after a gathering | Yes | Two maids are better for large events |
| Cooking full meals | No | She can help with simple preparation and wash the pots |
| Caring for children or elderly relatives alone | No | A woman of the household should be present during the visit |
| Moving heavy furniture | No | She tidies but does not lift heavy loads |
| Hosing large courtyards, pools and gardens | No | She can sweep walkways and the entrance |
How many hours does your home need?
Most Riyadh apartments are well served by a 4-hour visit, villas usually need 6 to 8 hours or two maids, and a single task can be done in 2 hours. Use these as a starting point; the right length depends on the number of rooms and bathrooms, the condition of the home and the size of the family.
Use this guide to estimate the length before booking:
| Home type | Suggested length | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Studio or one-bed flat | Two hours up to four | Short for one job, longer for everything |
| Three-bedroom apartment in a building or tower | 4 hours | Kitchen, bathrooms and light laundry |
| Full floor or large apartment with four or more bedrooms | 5 or 6 hours | Add an hour if ironing has piled up |
| Small villa or duplex | 6 or 8 hours | Or two maids working together |
| Large villa with several majlis rooms and annexes | Two maids or 8 hours | Each maid takes a floor |
| Move-in clean or after a gathering | 8 hours or more than one maid | Depends on the state of the home |
A simple rule: if your home is cleaned weekly, the usual length is enough. If it has gone a long while without a proper clean, add one or two hours to the first visit, then return to the normal length afterwards. And if you are short of time because guests arrive that evening, two maids for four hours beat one maid for eight.
Tip: Unsure of the length? WhatsApp us a quick description: bedrooms, bathrooms, villa or flat, and what you want done. We will recommend the hours before anything is confirmed.
Need a maid this week?
Tell us where you live and roughly what needs doing; we will lock in a slot and a price, starting at SAR 138 for four hours.
Book nowWhatsApp 0561940026CallChoosing a shift: what time will the maid come?
There are two shifts to pick from, one beginning in the morning and one beginning after Asr. Your hours are counted from the moment she is at your door, not from when she leaves for your address. The expected arrival window is confirmed at booking, because Riyadh is large and the main roads get congested at rush hour.
Morning shift
Ideal for homemakers and people working from home; the house is ready before lunch and the school run.
Evening shift
Suits working families coming home from the office, or anyone hosting after dinner who wants the house in order.
Ramadan and Eid
Shift times change in Ramadan to match the household’s routine and are confirmed at booking; and pre-Eid slots fill up fast.
Fridays and holidays
Whether a Friday or holiday visit is possible, and any price difference, is confirmed at booking.
For long visits of 6 or 8 hours, a morning start is best so the work finishes before evening. With two maids in a large villa, they can split the floors at the same time instead of one maid working a long shift.
Booking a maid by the hour in Riyadh, step by step
Booking takes one message or phone call to 0561940026: we confirm a slot, and the maid turns up on your chosen day.
Describe your home: district, home type (tower or building flat, floor, villa), how many bedrooms and bathrooms, and the jobs you have in mind.
We suggest hours and number of maids: based on your description we recommend 2, 4 or more hours and one or two maids, and tell you the starting price.
Choose the day and shift: morning or evening, and we confirm the booking by message.
Share your location: in newer districts or streets with numbers only, send a location pin; in a gated compound, arrange the maid’s entry in advance.
She arrives and gets going: our driver drops her off and picks her up; she carries the basic tools, while products depend on what we agreed when you booked.
Check the work before the end: walk through shortly before time is up and point out anything you would like redone.
What to include in your booking message
- District plus a nearby street or landmark, or simply a pin.
- Which floor you are on, and if the building has a lift.
- Who supplies the cleaning products, you or us.
- Pets at home, and any room that is off-limits.
- The name of a maid you liked before, if you want her again.
Can I reschedule or ask for the same maid?
Yes. Changing the time, or asking for someone else, is a WhatsApp message sent in good time; and if you got on well with a particular maid, ask for her by name next time and she comes when free. Many families prefer one maid who knows the house; it saves time and makes everyone more comfortable.
Had a visit that fell short? Explain plainly what went wrong and we will arrange someone else next time. It helps to hear from you on the day of the visit, while the details are fresh, so we can understand and fix the issue.
Ideally a lady of the house is at home while the maid works. She explains what is needed, shows which rooms come first, and it is clearer and more comfortable for the maid as well.
Which nationalities are the hourly maids?
The team includes women from African countries, Kenya and Uganda for example, and from Bangladesh. The mix on any given day depends on who is free when you book, so share any preference in your message and we will say what we can offer for that date.
Most families care less about the passport than about other things: is she legally employed, trained in caring for Saudi homes, comfortable with majlis seating, rugs and serving ware, dressed modestly and respectful of the household’s privacy. Those standards stay the same whoever is assigned.
Hourly maid, live-in maid or cleaning company?
An hourly maid suits anyone who wants regular help at a set cost without housing and feeding a worker. A live-in maid suits households that need someone there all the time. A cleaning company suits heavy deep cleaning with machines. Each has its place, and this table helps you compare:
A quick comparison of the three options:
| Item | Hourly maid | Live-in maid | Cleaning company |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commitment | One visit or a monthly package | Long contract and paperwork | A booking per job |
| Housing and meals | Not needed | Provided by the family | Not needed |
| Cost | From SAR 92 a visit | Salary, iqama and flights | Depends on area and equipment |
| Type of work | Cleaning, tidying, laundry and ironing | All household chores throughout the week | Deep cleaning, floor polishing and machine carpet cleaning |
| Privacy | Back to just the family after the visit | Someone always present | A team for set hours |
Many families combine two options: an hourly package for weekly upkeep and a deep clean once or twice a year. If you already have a live-in helper, an hourly maid gives extra support in busy seasons without adding another person to the household.
Hourly maids for gatherings, Ramadan, Eid and moving house
Yes, we send hourly maids to prepare your home before gatherings and family dinners, to help with serving, and to clean afterwards, plus seasonal preparation ahead of Ramadan and Eid, and for move-in or move-out cleaning. Events just need a little planning so the maid arrives at the right time.

Before the gathering
Cleaning the majlis, guest washroom and entrance, polishing tables, and setting out coffee trays, dates and cups.
During the gathering
Helping to serve, swapping dishes, and keeping the kitchen under control while guests are in.
After the gathering
Collecting and washing dishes, vacuuming the majlis and rugs, and putting seating back in place.
Before Ramadan and Eid
Cleaning cupboards and the kitchen, preparing guest rooms, and ironing linens and light removable curtains.
For a new home, a move-in clean means removing light construction dust and paint marks from floors and windows (inside), and cleaning bathrooms and the kitchen before the furniture comes in. Book 8 hours or two maids for this, because an empty house shows every speck of dust, and that first visit saves you weeks of piecemeal cleaning.

Before the maid arrives: simple steps that save your hours
The best way to make every hour count is a little preparation: put valuables and important papers in one place, decide which rooms are off-limits, and write the tasks down in order. Those few minutes from you save real time during the visit.
A written list
Write the tasks by priority and leave it in the kitchen, or send a photo of it when the maid arrives.
Products and tools
If you agreed to supply products, put them in one visible spot, including suitable cleaners for marble and wood.
Valuables
Keep jewellery, cash and documents somewhere private, and point out any fragile ornaments.
Access
Send a location pin in a new district, and let the building guard or compound gate know before the appointment.
After the first visit, notice what took longer than expected and what there was no time for. That tells you the right length for future visits, and whether one long visit or two shorter ones a week works better for you.
Tip for large villas: Split the house across two visits a week: the ground floor, majlis and kitchen on one, the upstairs bedrooms, laundry and ironing on the other. That way nothing piles up and nobody faces a marathon visit.
