In Ulaishah, Riyadh, Gulf Al-Arab Company sends legally employed maids by the hour to clean and tidy flats and villas, and you decide how long the visit lasts: two hours for one specific job, four hours (the usual choice, from SAR 138), or longer for bigger homes. Two of the jobs people in the district ask for most are cleaning out the fridge and sorting the pantry before the weekly shop, and tidying the home office. To book, call or WhatsApp 0561940026.
Ulaishah in brief
- The district: Ulaishah, West Riyadh, in the Ash Shumaisi sub-municipality
- Homes: flats and villas, with shops and showrooms for rent among them
- Four-hour visit: one maid, priced from SAR 138
- Fridge and pantry job: fits into a two-hour visit from SAR 92
- Bigger home: six hours from SAR 204, or two maids for four hours from SAR 296
- Slots: morning and evening; hours count from when the maid walks in
If you are new to the idea: an hourly or part-time maid is not a live-in helper. She visits for the hours you book, works through the jobs you agree, and leaves with our driver.
What does an hourly maid get done in an Ulaishah home?
She handles the normal run of housework in the time you book: the kitchen and dishes, bathrooms, sweeping and mopping, laundry and ironing, and dusting furniture and the inside of windows. What sets Ulaishah requests apart is that many come with one clear job attached: “clean the fridge before I fill it”, “tidy the study without moving the papers”, or “get the lounge ready for my family on Thursday evening”. So when you book, we ask which job matters most and build the rest of the visit around it.
Working by the hour means no live-in maid and no long contract; you pay for the visit alone and choose how often it happens, once before an occasion or a fixed weekly slot. The maid arrives and leaves with the company driver, so you never have to arrange her transport.
Where is Ulaishah, and what are its homes like?
Ulaishah is a district in West Riyadh under the Ash Shumaisi sub-municipality. Some sources count it as part of the edge of central Riyadh because it sits close to the centre; in our service map it belongs to the west. Among the streets that appear in its property listings are Asim Al Katib Street, where flats are offered for rent, and Al Ruwaished Street, where villas are listed for sale. Shops and showrooms for rent also feature, so this is a district where homes and businesses mix.
That mix means Ulaishah homes are not all one type. There are family flats in apartment blocks, villas with floors and majlis rooms, and homes belonging to people who run nearby shops or work long shifts. From the point of view of the maid who walks in, three things change from home to home: the number of rooms, whether there is a study or a household storeroom, and how much shopping comes through the door each week.
Because many blocks here have several entrances, we ask for the building number, floor and flat when you book, plus your location pin on WhatsApp, so the driver goes straight to the right door instead of searching along a row of shopfronts.
What does an hourly maid cost in Ulaishah?
A visit in Ulaishah is priced from SAR 92 for two hours and from SAR 138 for four hours with one maid, the same rates we charge across the Riyadh districts we serve. These are the lines that suit homes in the district best:
| Visit type | Details | Starts from (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| A single job | Two hours: the fridge and pantry, or the kitchen and one bathroom | 92 |
| Family flat | Four hours with one maid for the whole flat | 138 |
| Mid-size villa, or a flat with a study | Six hours, including the study and storeroom | 204 |
| Two-storey villa | Two maids for four hours, one per floor | 296 |
| Weekly slot | Monthly package of four visits, four hours each | 468 |
The final price follows the hours, the number of maids, the size of the home and the time slot; charges for late evenings, Fridays and holidays are confirmed when you book. Other lengths, such as five or eight hours, are available too; ask about them on WhatsApp.
How does the maid clean the fridge and sort the pantry, step by step?
She empties the fridge shelf by shelf and finishes by putting the food back so that the oldest items sit at the front where you see them first. The best time for this job is a few hours before your weekly shop, when the fridge is nearly empty; it then takes less than half the time it would when full.
- Take everything out onto the counter or into a cool box, setting aside anything close to its date for the lady of the house to check.
- Remove the shelves and drawers that come out, wash them in warm water and dry them well.
- Wipe the inside walls and the rubber seals around the door, where residue collects the most.
- Clean the door shelves and egg tray, then the outside of the fridge and the handle.
- Put the food back in a sensible order: dairy together, vegetables in the drawers, leftovers in closed boxes on the middle shelf.
- Move on to the pantry: wipe the shelves, group similar tins, and decant open packets into containers.

The maid never throws food away on her own judgement; she gathers anything that looks out of date in one place and you decide what stays. She does not take apart fixed parts inside the fridge or clean the condenser at the back, which is a technician’s job. The freezer can be cleaned if it is nearly empty or already defrosted; if you want a full clean, please switch it off well before the visit.
If the fridge has a smell that will not go, the cause is usually something spilt under the bottom drawers or stuck in the door seals, and careful cleaning of those spots solves most cases. The maid also wipes the floor of the fridge under the drawers and dries everything before the food goes back, because leftover moisture brings the smell straight back. If the smell lingers after cleaning, the appliance may have a fault that needs a technician.
Tip: If you usually shop on Wednesday or Thursday evening, book the two-hour visit for that morning and the fridge will be ready when you come home with the bags.
How often do the fridge and pantry need cleaning in a family home?
In a family home where someone cooks every day, a quick wipe of the shelves each week and a full clean once a month is enough. That is what we usually suggest to households on the weekly package: on three visits the maid wipes the front shelves and the door while doing the kitchen, and on the fourth she spends about an hour on a full clean of the fridge and pantry. That way smells never build up and food does not get lost behind the jars.
Homes that host often or prepare big meals for guests need a full clean after each large occasion, because the fridge fills with big platters and leftovers, and something nearly always spills.

Can the maid tidy your home office without touching your papers?
Yes, and the rule is simple: the maid cleans around the papers, not through them. Many Ulaishah residents work in nearby shops or businesses, or run their work from home, and the house has a study or a corner with a desk, a computer and files. That room needs a different approach from the rest of the home.
What the maid does
Wipes the desk around the papers, dusts the outside of the screen with a soft dry cloth, vacuums under the chair, and straightens the books on the shelf.
What she leaves alone
She does not open drawers, sort papers, unplug equipment or move cables, and she keeps water away from electronics.
Study corner
Pens and notebooks go back to their places, the desk and chair are wiped, and the bin is emptied.
What helps her
Put anything you do not want touched in a closed box, and tell her if a device in the room must stay on.

From homes where people work from the house, it helps to schedule the study for a time you are not using it, such as early morning before you start, or your day off. If you will be working in the room during the visit, tell us; the maid will do the rest of the house first and come into the study in the last half hour.
If there are children at school or university, the study corner needs care much like the office: the desk fills with books and worksheets, the floor under the chair gathers eraser crumbs and pencil shavings, and the shelf above the desk collects dust quickly. The maid puts the school books back in place, collects the pens into their pot, wipes the desk and lamp, and leaves open exercise books exactly as they are so nobody loses their place. A box for each child to drop their things in before the visit lets her clear the desk without mixing up siblings’ belongings.
A shop owner’s home or a long-shift household: how do we plan a four-hour visit?
We plan the visit around your priority and split the four hours into clear blocks, so you know what will be done before the maid leaves. Here is an example for a three-bedroom family flat with a study, on a visit centred on the kitchen and fridge:
| Time from start | Job | Why in this order |
|---|---|---|
| First hour | Fridge, pantry and kitchen counters | The most important job is done first, while the maid is fresh |
| Second hour | Dishes, hob and bathrooms | The kitchen is finished before moving on; bathrooms next, as they need drying time |
| Third hour | Bedrooms: tidy, sweep and mop | Rooms are done once the kitchen is out of the way |
| Fourth hour | The study, then the lounge and entrance | The study in the quiet end of the visit, the entrance last so it stays clean |
If your home is a villa, six hours with one maid works better, or two maids for four hours, one taking the kitchen, pantry and ground floor and the other the bedrooms and study upstairs. For households that only get home in the evening, the visit can be in the evening slot, so the house is in order before dinner.
Note: We prefer a lady of the household to be at home during the visit. If everyone is at work in the morning, choose the evening slot rather than leaving the maid alone in the house.
Facing a street of shops? How the maid deals with dust at the entrance and windows
Homes near Ulaishah’s commercial streets take in more dust than others, because cars and people never stop moving in front of the shops. Dust settles on the ledges of street-facing windows, on the entrance tiles and on the shared landing outside the flat. The answer is not a longer clean but a smarter one that starts where the dust comes from.
- The maid wipes window ledges and the tracks of sliding windows from inside on every visit, not once a month.
- She shakes out curtains in street-facing rooms and wipes nearby surfaces before mopping the floor.
- She mops the inside threshold and entrance tiles at the end of the visit and lines the shoes up.
- She wipes the inside of the front door and its handle, the most touched spot after coming in from outside.
We advise residents of street-facing flats to keep the windows shut during the visit with the air conditioning on, and to put a thick doormat by the entrance; that alone cuts the sand that comes into the home. The shared stairwell outside the flat is usually the building owner’s responsibility and is not part of a flat visit unless agreed beforehand.
Which jobs fall outside the maid’s visit in Ulaishah?
Anything that needs a technician, heavy equipment or puts the maid at risk falls outside the visit. The maid does not cook full meals, stay alone to look after children or elderly relatives, climb onto roofs or clean outside walls and the outer side of windows, move heavy furniture or empty a shop’s storeroom, or hose down large courtyards. Machine-washing carpets and sofas is a separate service.
On the other hand, the visit covers jobs you may not think of: ironing and folding, organising wardrobes, the inside of window glass, preparing and serving hospitality at gatherings and clearing up afterwards, getting the home ready for Ramadan and Eid, and cleaning a flat before you move in or after you move out. Basic tools come with the maid, and the cleaning products are agreed when you book.
Who is the maid who comes to your home, and is she legal?
The maid who visits you is legally employed, holds a valid iqama, has been trained for household work and arrives in a modest uniform. We have maids of African nationalities such as Kenyan and Ugandan, and Bangladeshi maids; who is available changes with the schedule at the time of booking. If you get on well with a particular maid, ask for her on your next visit and we will send her if her schedule allows.
Booking through a licensed provider protects you before it makes life easier. The Domestic Workers Regulation bans putting a domestic worker to work for anyone other than her employer, with fines of up to SAR 20,000, and the General Directorate of Passports penalises anyone who employs or houses people in breach of residence and labour rules with up to 6 months in prison and up to SAR 100,000 per violator. So do not open your door to a worker offering herself with no company behind her.
