Hourly Maids in Ar Raid, Riyadh

“We cleaned the flat on Saturday and by Monday the dust was back on the tables.” We hear this a lot from Ar Raid residents, and most of the time the cause is the AC vents nobody has wiped in months. Gulf Al-Arab Company provides hourly maids in Ar Raid, Riyadh to clean your home together with the AC fronts and vents the maid can safely reach, and to set up the majlis before guests and restore it after. A 4-hour visit with one maid starts from SAR 138, morning or evening, and we take the maid there and back. To book, call or WhatsApp us on 0561940026.

In case the term is new to you: an hourly maid is a part-time cleaner booked for a visit of a few hours, not a live-in helper. She arrives, works through your list and leaves the same day.

Ar Raid in points

  • Flat plus AC vent wipe-down: 4 hours, one maid, from SAR 138
  • Majlis before guests arrive: 2 hours from SAR 92

Why does dust come back so quickly in Ar Raid flats?

Because the air conditioner pulls in the room’s air and pushes it out again, and if its louvres and the ceiling vents are coated in dust, it spreads that dust across the room after every clean. Riyadh is a dusty city and ACs run most of the year, so vents become a little store that keeps feeding dust back onto surfaces and floors. That is why you can wipe the tables in the morning and find a light film on them by evening.

The answer is not more mopping but a different order: the maid starts high, with the AC fronts and the vents she can safely reach, then shelves and surfaces, and the floor last. Do it the other way round and the vent dust lands on a clean floor. That is the order we ask maids to follow on every visit to flats here.

Where is Ar Raid and what are the homes like?

Ar Raid is a west Riyadh district under the Al Maather sub-municipality. It lies west of Ar Rahmaniyah, whose western edge is formed by Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz I Road and Ar Raid itself. Streets that appear in its listings include Abi Firas Al Hamdani Street and Ashirat Sudair Street. Most of what is offered here is flats for rent, including units in recently built buildings and flats with their own private entrance.

That kind of housing has its own character: reasonably sized flats, a split AC in almost every room or central-AC vents in the ceilings, and a living room that turns into a majlis when guests come. Many families here both work, leave in the morning and return mid-afternoon, so they want a visit that ends on time and leaves the home ready for the evening.

How much is an hourly maid in Ar Raid?

A 4-hour visit with one maid in Ar Raid starts from SAR 138, which usually covers a three-bedroom flat including the AC vents. These options fit the district’s flats best:

Visit typeDetailsFrom (SAR)
4 hours, one maidThe whole flat with AC fronts and shelves first, floor last138
2 hours, one maidMajlis and the nearby bathroom before guests92
5 hoursA large or private-entrance flat with built-up dust and the majlis184
Extra hourAdded at the end of the visit if the maid is free52
4 visits × 4 hours (weekly)A fixed weekly visit for a working family468

Your final price is set by the hours, the number of maids, the size of the flat and the slot. If an evening, Friday or public-holiday rate applies, we tell you before the booking is fixed. For any job not shown in the table, ask about the price on WhatsApp.

What does the maid clean on the AC, and what does she leave alone?

She cleans what is visible and safely reachable: the front panel and louvres of a split unit, the front filter if it slides out easily and can be rinsed, central-AC vents in normal-height ceilings, and the return-air grille. The inside of the unit, the outdoor unit and vents in high ceilings are not part of a visit. This table shows the limits:

PartDuring the visitNote

While she works, the maid lays a cloth or paper under the unit so dust does not fall on the sofa or bed. She starts with a dry wipe to lift the loose layer, then a barely damp cloth for marks, and never sprays water or cleaner into the unit. Then she moves on to shelves, picture frames and the tops of wardrobes at a safe height, and finishes the room with the floor.

Please note

Switch off the ACs in the rooms being cleaned before the maid starts, and do not turn them back on until any washed filters are completely dry and back in place.

Tip

Wiping the AC vents once a month is usually enough for a family flat, so book it in one visit of your package rather than every time.

Where else does dust hide in a flat?

In the places you do not notice on a normal day, the ones that make a flat feel dusty even when the floor is clean. The maid goes over them in the same top-to-bottom order:

  • The tops of wardrobes and shelves, as high as she can reach from a small stable step.
  • Picture frames, mirrors and the edges of artwork.
  • Electronics: the back of the TV, receivers, routers and their cables.
  • Light switches and door handles, which are also among the most touched spots.
  • Window sills and the inside of window tracks, where fine dust collects.
  • Under sofas and beds, as far as the vacuum reaches without moving heavy furniture.

If the flat is newly handed over in a recently built block, you will often find leftover construction dust in tracks, sills and inside kitchen drawers. That needs a longer first visit, after which visits go back to their usual length.

After a dust storm: how does the maid restore the flat?

In two stages: first dry dust removal before any water, then damp wiping. After a dust storm the layer is on everything, and if the maid started with a wet cloth, the dust would turn into muddy streaks on surfaces and floors. So she starts with the vacuum on window sills, curtains, sofas and rugs, then wipes surfaces with a dry cloth, then a barely damp one, and sweeps and mops the floor last.

She does not clean the outside of windows or facades, but she does clean the inside of the glass and the window tracks and shakes out the entrance mat. For a three-bedroom flat after a heavy dust storm we suggest 5 hours rather than 4, since the dry stage alone takes time. A small balcony can be swept and mopped, but not hosed down.

Getting the majlis ready for guests: what can the maid do in two hours?

In two hours she prepares the majlis and what surrounds it: vacuums the floor seating or sofas and the rugs, straightens the cushions and armrests, wipes the low table and surfaces, empties the incense burner of ash, sets out the coffee, tea and dates trays, then cleans the guest bathroom and lays out small towels. In Ar Raid flats the majlis is often the living room itself, or a room near the private entrance, so it needs to be ready before the door opens.

Guest bathroom

Shining basin and mirror, small towels and an empty bin.

And once the guests have gone?

On the next visit, or on an evening visit straight after the gathering if one is available, the maid collects and washes the cups and plates, vacuums crumbs from the seating and rugs, wipes light marks off the table and airs the majlis of incense and coffee smells. If it was a big gathering, we suggest 4 hours so the kitchen is included too, because hospitality always ends up in the kitchen.

Two hours or four: which suits your Ar Raid flat?

Choose two hours for one specific job and four hours for the whole flat. Two hours work for setting up the majlis before guests, cleaning the kitchen and two bathrooms after a long day, or wiping the AC vents alone in a small flat. They are not enough for a three-bedroom flat that needs dusting, floors, kitchen and bathrooms together; the time runs out with the work half done.

Four hours is what most residents book, because it leaves room for the full top-to-bottom order: AC and shelves, then bedrooms and bathrooms, then the kitchen, then the floor. If the flat is large or has been empty for a while, five hours give the maid time without rushing. And if a little is left when time is up, an extra hour can be added if she is free, from SAR 52.

Note

The clock starts when the maid reaches your door, so if your task list is ready and you tell her the priorities in the first couple of minutes, you get the most out of every hour.

Private-entrance flat or flat in a building: what changes?

The entrance, and the dust that comes through it. A private-entrance flat usually has a door onto a small yard or passage, which lets in more dust, so the maid mops the entrance, the threshold and the inner part of the passage every visit. In a building flat, dust mostly comes through the windows and the AC, and she wipes your door and the area in front of it; the shared stairs are the landlord’s responsibility unless agreed in advance.

Either way, we need your location pin and your flat and floor number, and if the building has a name or a distinctive colour, tell us, because new buildings look very much alike. The clock starts when the maid reaches your door.

Does a weekly visit suit a working family in Ar Raid?

Very much, because it gives the home a fixed day nobody has to think about. The 4 visits × 4 hours monthly package starts from SAR 468, in the slot that suits you: morning if someone is home, or evening after work. You can spread the jobs across the month: one week with the AC vents, one with washing and ironing, one with a deep bathroom clean, and one before the month ends for the majlis and rugs.

If you have young children or host guests every week, the 8-visit package, twice a week, may suit you better, from SAR 885. With every package you can request the same maid, subject to availability.

Which jobs fall outside an hourly visit?

Anything dangerous, high up, heavy or outdoors. The maid does not dismantle AC units or climb to high ceilings, clean exterior facades or the outside of windows, move heavy furniture, hose down large courtyards, or work on pools and gardens. She also does not cook full meals or take on sole care of children or elderly relatives.

She arrives carrying the basic cleaning tools she needs; the cleaning products follow whatever you and we settle on at booking. Ideally a woman of the household is home during the visit, to show the maid the priorities and where things are kept.

Booking in Ar Raid

  3. 3Say what matters: a regular clean, dust and AC, or the majlis ready for guests.
  4. 4Pick length and slot: 2, 4 or 5 hours, morning or evening.
  5. 5Send your location: a pin with the flat and floor number; we confirm the time and price.

Changing the time or asking for a different maid is done on WhatsApp well before the appointment, and if you want the maid who came last time, just say so.

Legally employed maids: what does that mean for you?

It means the woman who enters your home works for an organisation that is accountable for her, holds a valid iqama, is trained and dresses modestly. Available maids are of African nationalities such as Kenyan and Ugandan, and Bangladeshi, with the line-up changing according to who is free at booking time.

It also keeps you clear of violations. The Domestic Workers Regulation, published in Umm Al-Qura, prohibits an employer from allowing their domestic worker to work elsewhere, punishable by a fine with a ceiling of 20,000 riyals or loss of recruitment rights for up to three years. The General Directorate of Passports imposes fines reaching 100,000 riyals, and jail that can run to six months, on anyone who employs people breaking residence or labour law.

Frequently asked questions

Does the maid clean AC vents?

Yes. With the unit off, she wipes the split unit front and louvres, the washable front filter and vents in normal-height ceilings.

Will she open the AC or do a chemical wash?

No. Opening the unit, chemical washing and the outdoor unit are jobs for an AC technician.

Why does dust come back a few days after cleaning?

Usually because the AC vents blow out the dust stuck on them, so we start with them, then surfaces, then the floor.

How often should the vents be wiped?

Once a month is usually enough for a family flat, and it can be one of your package visits.

Will the maid prepare the majlis before guests?

Yes. She vacuums the seating and rugs, straightens the cushions, sets the hospitality trays and cleans the guest bathroom; 2 hours is usually enough.

Will she serve coffee to guests?

Yes, preparing and serving hospitality at gatherings and cleaning up afterwards is part of a visit.

My flat has a private entrance. Does anything change?

She mops the entrance, threshold and inner passage on every visit, since more dust comes in that way.

Are evening visits after work available?

Yes, there is an evening slot; any charge for it is confirmed at booking.

Is there a weekly package?

Yes, 4 visits × 4 hours a month from SAR 468.

Which nationalities are the maids?

African nationalities such as Kenyan and Ugandan, and Bangladeshi; availability changes at the time of booking.
