The laundry basket that never empties, the pile of clothes waiting to be ironed, the wardrobe door that will not shut: these are the jobs an hourly maid from Gulf Al-Arab Company takes on in Salam, Riyadh, alongside the usual cleaning of your home. A 4-hour visit with one maid starts from SAR 138, and a 2-hour visit just for ironing starts from SAR 92. Phone us or send a WhatsApp to 0561940026 to book.

Is Salam the same as As Salam in east Riyadh?
No, they are two different districts. This page is about Salam in central Riyadh, the district many people associate with the well-known Salam Park. As Salam, with the definite article, is another district in east Riyadh with its own streets and homes. We mention this because the two names are often mixed up when people type their address into a booking message, and the result is a maid heading to the other side of the city.
So we ask Salam residents for two small things when booking: write the district as “Salam, central Riyadh”, and send your home location pin. That removes any confusion and the driver brings the maid straight to your door.
If the term is new to you, an hourly or part-time maid in Riyadh is a cleaner you book for a set number of hours; she arrives, works and leaves, with no live-in arrangement. We do not list detailed boundaries or streets for the district here, because what matters on this page is what the maid gets done inside your home. We have chosen to focus on a part of housework that rarely gets the attention it deserves: clothes. Washing, ironing, folding and organising wardrobes eat up more family time than floors and bathrooms, especially in homes where both parents work or children are at school.
What does an hourly maid cost in Salam?
An hourly maid in Salam starts from SAR 92 for a 2-hour visit and from SAR 138 for a 4-hour visit. Since clothes are a job that comes round every week, we have put the packages next to the single visits:
| Visit type | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| 2-hour visit | The week’s ironing, or folding and putting away laundry | 92 |
| 4-hour visit | Washing and ironing with a general clean, or organising two or three wardrobes | 138 |
| Extra hour | For a leftover ironing pile when time runs out and the maid is free | 52 |
| 4 visits × 4 hours | One visit a week: cleaning, washing and ironing | 468 |
| 8 visits × 4 hours | Two visits a week for a large family | 885 |
| 12 visits × 4 hours | Three visits a week for a home with school children and two working parents | 1,325 |
Your final bill reflects the hours booked, how many maids come, the size of the home and the shift. Evening, Friday and holiday rates are confirmed at booking. Cannot find a service in the table? Ask about its price on WhatsApp.
How does the maid fit washing and ironing into one visit?
The maid starts the washing machine as soon as she arrives, irons any dry clothes while it runs, hangs out the load when the cycle ends, starts a second load if there is one, and then moves on to the rest of the house. Working in that order means no time is lost waiting for the machine, and she leaves behind pressed clothes on hangers and a fresh load on the line.

What takes longest to iron is men’s thobes, shirts and school uniforms, because collars and sleeves need care. If you have a lot of white thobes, tell us when booking so we can suggest the right length. A 2-hour visit may cover the ironing alone, but if you add washing, folding and cleaning two rooms, 4 hours is the better fit.
Before the visit
Separate whites from colours, and put items for ironing in a different basket from the wash.
Delicate fabrics
Silk, wool and embroidered abayas: tell the maid the heat setting, or keep them for yourself.
Iron and board
The maid uses your own iron and ironing board, so make sure both are available and working.
Hangers
Have enough hangers ready so clothes go straight onto them after pressing and do not crease.
Read the care labels
The garment label is the guide for ironing temperature and washing method. Items with no label, or pieces you are worried about, should be set aside with a note asking the maid to leave them.
Wardrobe organising: what exactly does the maid do?
Organising a wardrobe means taking everything out, dusting the shelves and drawers, then putting the clothes back folded and sorted: shirts together, trousers together, underwear in drawers, abayas and thobes on hangers. The maid never throws anything away or decides what stays and what goes; that is your call alone. She simply sets aside anything that looks duplicated or outgrown for you to review.

In children’s rooms, the order follows use: school clothes on the nearest shelf, going-out clothes in the middle, and anything no longer worn at the top. In the main bedroom you can ask for the wardrobe to be sorted by colour or by occasion. One large, full wardrobe can take an hour and a half to two hours, so a 4-hour visit usually covers two or three wardrobes with the folding they need.
| What you ask for | What the maid does | What you prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Organising a wardrobe | Empties it, wipes the shelves, folds, sorts and returns everything | Point out items you do not want moved |
| The week’s ironing | Irons and hangs on hangers or folds into drawers | A working iron, an ironing board and hangers |
| Washing and hanging out | Runs the machine, sorts colours and hangs the laundry | Your preferred detergent and softener |
| Summer and winter clothes swap | Packs away the finished season and sets out the next | Bags or boxes for storage |
| Bedding and towels | Folds them the same way and arranges them in their cupboard | Where spare bedding should live |
A tip for order that lasts
Ask the maid to fold each item type the same way in every drawer, and keep that system after she leaves. A wardrobe stays tidy much longer when every kind of item has one known place.

Book nowWhatsApp 0561940026CallSwapping summer and winter clothes: can the maid help?
Yes. You can dedicate a full visit to the seasonal swap. The maid gathers the clothes from the season that has ended, washes what needs washing, folds them into the bags or boxes you provide, then takes out the next season’s clothes, shakes them out and arranges them in the wardrobes. Winter in Riyadh is short but still calls for heavy clothes and blankets, and swapping everything twice a year can swallow a whole family day.
Boxes are placed wherever you decide, but lifting them onto high shelves or the top of wardrobes is left to someone in the family, because work at height and heavy lifting are outside the visit. The maid can wash light blankets that fit in your home machine; large heavy blankets need a specialist laundry.
A home where both parents work: does an evening visit suit it?
An evening visit suits homes where everyone leaves for work in the morning and nobody is in to receive the maid before the afternoon; its rate is confirmed at booking. We prefer a woman of the household to be present during the visit, so if the mother gets home from work after midday, the evening slot is usually the answer, and the maid gets through the ironing and washing while the family carries on with their day.
For a well-organised week, we suggest booking the visit just before the working week starts, so work shirts and school uniforms are pressed and hanging before the first morning. If there is a lot of laundry, two visits a week work better than one long one: the first for washing and cleaning, the second for ironing and folding.
During school exam weeks or long-hours seasons at work, a family may want an extra short 2-hour visit just for ironing, from SAR 92, so the week’s clothes are ready without anyone staying up at the ironing board. If there is a family occasion at the weekend, pressing and hanging the outfits for it can be added to the same visit, kept somewhere away from dust.
Moving the visit
If your hours change or you are running late, send us a WhatsApp well before the visit to move it or switch shifts. You can also ask for the same maid every week, subject to availability, so she gets used to how you like things arranged.
What does an hourly maid visit in Salam cover?
Clothes are only part of it; the same visit can mix ironing with the rest of the housework. Inside the visit: rooms tidied and cleaned, floors swept and mopped, the kitchen and washing-up, bathrooms, the inner side of window glass, dusting, and a vacuum over seating and rugs. For seasons and occasions: preparing and serving hospitality then clearing up, getting the house ready for Ramadan and Eid, and a clean before you move in or after you move out.
Left out of the visit: preparing whole meals, being the sole carer for a child or an elderly relative, anything on a ladder or on the outside walls of the building, carrying heavy furniture, and big yards that need a hose, as well as pools and gardens. The maid comes with the basic cleaning tools and the products are agreed at booking, though for laundry it is best to use the detergent and softener your family is used to.
Are the maids legal, and which nationalities are available?
Our maids are legally resident with valid iqamas, trained and modestly dressed, and the company drives them to you and back. That is not a formality. The Domestic Workers Regulation prohibits a domestic worker from working for anyone other than their employer, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development can fine an employer who breaks this rule up to SAR 20,000 or bar them from recruiting for 3 years. The General Directorate of Passports sets a jail term reaching 6 months and fines reaching SAR 100,000 for whoever employs or houses someone in breach of residency rules.
As for nationalities, our maids are African, such as Kenyan and Ugandan, or Bangladeshi, and the choice available depends on when you book.
Which mistakes ruin ironing and laundry at home?
Three mistakes are the most common: washing whites and colours together, leaving wet laundry in the machine for hours after the cycle ends, and ironing clothes that are still stained, which sets the mark with heat. The maid avoids these, but some of them start before she arrives, so we list them here to help you get the house ready.
- Sorting: whites on their own, dark colours on their own, towels on their own; each needs a different cycle.
- Stains: a stained item is not ironed until the stain has been treated, because heat fixes it into the fabric.
- Pockets: empty thobe and trouser pockets before they go in the basket; pens and tissues can spoil a whole load.
- Hanging out: clothes are hung straight after the cycle and pulled straight at the shoulders, so they crease less and iron faster.
- The sun: Riyadh sun is strong, so dark clothes are dried in the shade or turned inside out to keep their colour.
If you have a tumble dryer, tell the maid which items must not go in it, such as wool, some abayas and compression sportswear. And if your flat is small with nowhere to dry clothes, time the visit so one load can be washed and hung before the maid leaves, with the rest ironed on the next visit.
Bedding and towels: how do they rotate through the week?
The simplest system is two sets of bedding for each bedroom: one on the bed and one in the cupboard. On each weekly visit the maid changes the bedding, washes and hangs the used set, then folds it on the next visit and puts it where the clean set was. Towels follow the same rhythm, washed in a separate, warmer cycle. That way bedding never piles up in the laundry basket and no bed is left waiting for clean sheets to dry.
In homes with small children, their bedding may need changing more than once a week, which is where the two- or three-visit weekly packages help, so the job does not fall back on the family between visits.
