Most flats in Ad Dubiyah, Riyadh are small units in residential buildings in the old city centre, so Gulf Al-Arab Company offers families there hourly maid visits starting at 2 hours from SAR 92, up to the standard 4-hour visit that starts from SAR 138. The maid is legally employed, arrives in a company car and is collected afterwards, and the time is counted from when she reaches your door. Call us or drop a WhatsApp message on 0561940026 to book.

Ad Dubiyah or Ad Dubbat? Which district does this page cover?
This page is about Ad Dubiyah in old central Riyadh, which references place within the Al Batha sub-municipality area. It is a different district from Ad Dubbat, even though some property sites mix the two up in their search pages. If your home is in Ad Dubbat, there is a separate page for it at the end of this article; if it is in Ad Dubiyah, you are in the right place. Either way, sending your location pin clears up any confusion before the maid sets off.
Ad Dubiyah is one of the small districts at the heart of the city, made up mostly of rented residential buildings and compact flats. As in much of the old centre, a large share of residents are workers and bachelors, and families are fewer. We say this openly because it shapes the service: hourly maid visits are for families in their own flats and homes, and we prefer a woman of the household to be present throughout. The families who do live here usually need shorter, more focused visits than the large homes of the newer districts.
For anyone new to the term, an hourly or part-time maid in Riyadh is a cleaner booked by the hour; she does not live with you. This article is about the small flat specifically: when 2 hours is enough and when you need 4, how to welcome a guest without wearing yourself out, and how to sort the washing machine corner, which in these buildings tends to sit in the kitchen, in a small side room or up on the roof.
Is a 2-hour visit enough for a small flat in Ad Dubiyah?
Yes, a 2-hour visit is usually enough for a one-bedroom flat or two small rooms if you need the routine clean: kitchen and dishes, the bathroom, sweeping and mopping, and making the bed. If you add washing and ironing, or the flat has not been cleaned for a while, or there are children at home, 4 hours is the better choice so time does not run out before the important jobs.
The table below compares the two options by the state of your flat, so you can choose before booking:
| State of the flat | 2 hours | 4 hours |
|---|---|---|
| One bedroom, cleaned last week | Enough for kitchen, bathroom and floors | Spare time that can go on ironing |
| Two bedrooms plus a full week of laundry | Covers the cleaning but not the laundry | Full clean with washing, hanging out and folding |
| Not cleaned for several weeks | Usually not enough | The right choice, possibly with an extra hour |
| A guest arriving in a few hours | Enough for the living room, bathroom and serving tray | Good if you also want the kitchen and bedroom |
| The morning after guests | Enough for the dishes and resetting the seating | Good if you add bedding and laundry |
Our rule of thumb: if you can write your jobs in three lines, 2 hours will do; if you need more lines than that, book 4 hours. If in doubt, pick the shorter visit and add an hour if needed and the maid is free.
What do hourly maids charge in Ad Dubiyah?
An hourly maid in Ad Dubiyah starts from SAR 92 for a 2-hour visit and from SAR 138 for 4 hours. These are the options closest to the small flats in the district:
| Visit type | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| 2-hour visit | A small flat, or one job such as preparing for a guest | 92 |
| 4-hour visit | A full clean of the flat with washing or ironing | 138 |
| Extra hour | Extending the visit if jobs remain and the maid is free | 52 |
| 5-hour visit | A larger flat, or a clean after a long gap | 184 |
| 4 visits × 4 hours | A fixed weekly visit for a month | 468 |
How much you pay in the end comes down to the hours, the number of maids, the size of the flat and your shift. Evening, Friday and holiday rates are confirmed at booking. For anything not shown above, ask about its price on WhatsApp.
A guest coming to a small flat: how does the maid prepare?
Getting a small flat ready for a guest is quicker, but it needs more care, because a guest can see everything from where they sit. The maid starts in the living room: she clears the sofa and table, plumps the cushions, and vacuums and mops the floor and rug. Then she cleans the bathroom the guest will use and puts out a fresh towel, and finally sets up the coffee, tea and dates tray and washes the cups and glasses.

If the guest is staying overnight, the maid prepares a place to sleep: fresh bedding on the bed or sofa bed, a pillow and blanket, and space for a suitcase. After the visit, you can book another 2 hours to wash the cups and plates, put the living room back as it was and wash the guest bedding.
Living room
Clearing clutter, plumping cushions, wiping the table, vacuuming the rug and mopping.
Bathroom
Cleaning the basin, toilet, floor and mirror, and setting out a towel and new soap.
Serving corner
Washing cups and glasses, setting the trays, and wiping the fridge door.
After the guest
Washing up, resetting the seating, and laundering the guest’s bedding and towels.
Tip for a small space
Ask the maid to gather stray items into one closed place, such as a cupboard or a box, rather than spreading them around the rooms. You will find them easily once your guest has gone.

Book nowWhatsApp 0561940026CallThe washing machine corner or laundry room: what does the maid sort out?
The maid tidies the laundry corner by wiping the outside of the machine, cleaning the detergent drawer and door seal, gathering the detergents onto one shelf, and clearing lint and powder from the floor around it, then she runs the wash and hangs it out. In many older buildings the machine sits in a corner of the kitchen or in a small, poorly ventilated room, so damp and the smell of forgotten laundry build up and the spot needs a little weekly care.

If laundry is hung on the building’s shared roof, tell us when booking. The maid hangs washing wherever you say, but cleaning the shared roof or stairwell is not part of a flat visit unless agreed in advance, and going up to unsafe or unprotected areas is not included.
- Door seal: wiped, with the door left open after the cycle so it dries and does not smell.
- Detergent drawer: removed and rinsed in warm water if it comes out.
- Detergents: gathered on one shelf or in one basket, out of children’s reach.
- Laundry basket: emptied and wiped, with whites and colours separated for the next load.
A note on fittings
If you notice water leaking from the machine hose or an electrical problem around it, that needs a technician, not a maid. She cleans the area but does not disconnect or repair fittings.
Just rented a flat in Ad Dubiyah? Cleaning before you move in and after you leave
A move-in clean means the maid works in the empty flat: she cleans the kitchen inside and out, scrubs the bathrooms, wipes cupboards, doors and the inside of the windows, and sweeps and mops the floors before the furniture arrives. In rented buildings, families and tenants change from time to time, and a new tenant often receives a flat carrying months of dust or the previous occupant’s leftovers in the cupboards and kitchen.
A small empty flat usually needs one 4-hour visit, but if it has been standing empty for a long time or has old grease in the kitchen, 5 hours may be needed. If there is maintenance or painting going on, book the visit after the workmen have finished, because cleaning before the work ends is wasted with the first new layer of dust. Heavy paint splashes and cement on tiles need a specialist cleaning crew rather than an hourly home visit.
When you move out, the maid works the same way once the furniture has gone: she cleans what has been uncovered under wardrobes and beds, wipes the lower walls, and cleans the kitchen and bathrooms so you can hand the flat back to the landlord in good condition. Moving the furniture itself or carrying heavy boxes is not part of the visit.
- Before booking: make sure water and electricity are working in the flat on the day.
- Keys: you or a family member should be at the flat; we do not take keys to empty flats.
- Products: an empty flat rarely has any cleaners, so agree on products with us when booking.
How does the maid reach buildings in Ad Dubiyah?
The maid arrives in a company car at the nearest point to your building entrance, so we need the building’s location pin plus the floor and flat number. Some streets in the old centre are narrow, some buildings stand shoulder to shoulder and look alike, and the entrance may be off a side lane rather than the main street, so an accurate pin with a short description of the entrance saves a lot of time.
- Send the pin with the name of a nearby shop or mosque the driver will recognise.
- Mention if the entrance is at the back or off a side lane.
- Tell us the floor number and whether there is no lift.
- Keep your phone on at arrival time so you can meet the maid at the door on the first visit.
Your booked hours are counted from the moment the maid reaches the flat door, not from when she leaves her accommodation, so none of your time is lost on the road. If you need to change the time or the maid, send a WhatsApp message well before the visit.
A weekly visit, or only when needed?
Booking only when needed suits a small family that does its own cleaning and wants an extra pair of hands before a guest or after a busy week. A weekly visit suits families where the adults work or there are young children. In a small flat, work piles up quickly because the space cannot absorb any mess; one bag of laundry or a stack of unwashed plates is enough to change how the whole home feels.
If you go weekly, the package of 4 visits × 4 hours starts from SAR 468, and the visit can fall on the same day and shift every week so the family can plan around it. If 4 hours feels longer than your flat needs each week, tell us when booking and we will help you settle on the right length between the 2-hour and the full visit, with the option of the same maid each time, subject to availability.
What is included in the visit, and what is not?
A flat visit includes cleaning and tidying, sweeping and mopping, the kitchen and dishes, the bathroom, laundry with ironing and folding, inside window glass, dusting, vacuuming rugs and seating, preparing hospitality and cleaning up afterwards, Ramadan and Eid preparation, and cleaning a new flat before you move in or an old one after you leave.
Not included: full cooking
The maid does not cook meals, though she washes up and cleans the kitchen after cooking.
Not included: sole care
She does not look after children or elderly relatives on her own while the family is out.
Not included: heights
Exterior facades, outside window glass and unsafe high places.
Not included: heavy and outdoor work
Moving heavy furniture, hosing down yards, pools and gardens.
Basic cleaning tools come with the maid, and products are agreed at booking. In a small flat it is often easiest for her to use the cleaners you already have, so tell us what is at home.
Are the maids legal, and why does that matter in central Riyadh?
Yes. Our maids are legally resident with valid iqamas, trained and modestly dressed. In central districts where informal offers are common, it helps to know what the rules say. The Domestic Workers Regulation forbids a domestic worker from working for anyone but their own employer, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development can impose on an offending employer a fine with a ceiling of SAR 20,000, or a recruitment ban lasting no more than 3 years. Employing, housing or transporting a residency violator is punished by the General Directorate of Passports with prison that may reach 6 months and a fine that may reach SAR 100,000, and that responsibility falls on whoever brought the worker into their home.
Available nationalities: African maids such as Kenyans and Ugandans, and maids from Bangladesh, with availability depending on the time you book. You can ask for the same maid on later visits if you are happy with her, as her schedule allows.
