Hourly Maids in Al Murabba, Riyadh

If you live in a flat or studio in Al Murabba, Riyadh, Gulf Al-Arab Company sends hourly maids in Al Murabba who come up to your door at the agreed time, clean and tidy, then leave. “Hourly” or “part-time” here means booked visits, not a maid living with you. A 4-hour visit starts from SAR 138, and studios can book just 2 hours. Call or WhatsApp 0561940026, and mention your floor number and whether the building has a lift.

What is it like to live in Al Murabba, Riyadh?

Al Murabba is one of the oldest districts of central Riyadh and among the most tied to the city’s history: the well-known Al Murabba Palace stands here, and the district falls under the Al Malaz sub-municipality. Streets that keep appearing in local property ads include Abi Bakr Ibn Al Arabi Street, Prince Faisal bin Turki bin Abdulaziz Street, Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi bin Turki Street, Al Saadah Street, Al Husaini Street and Rawd Al Uyun Street.

Most homes on offer in Al Murabba are flats and studios for rent or sale in fairly old apartment blocks, many with no lift or only a small one. Residents tend to be employees, young couples, small families and anyone who wants to be close to the city centre and its offices. A flat here is usually small to medium, with a living room that sometimes doubles as an office, and a dining corner instead of a full dining room.

A redevelopment project, New Murabba, has been announced to turn the area into a modern downtown, led by the New Murabba Development Company. That is an announced development; this page is about the homes and flats standing today and the people living in them who want hourly cleaning help.

How many hours does a flat or studio in Al Murabba need?

A studio or one-bedroom flat usually needs 2 hours, a two- or three-bedroom flat needs 4, and a larger family flat, or one left uncleaned for a while, needs 5 or 6. A simple rule: the number of bathrooms and the state of the kitchen decide the length more than the number of rooms.

Type of unitSuggested lengthWhat the maid focuses on
Studio2 hoursFloor, bathroom, kitchenette, making the bed and putting clothes away
One-bedroom flat2 to 4 hoursKitchen, bathroom and living room, plus ironing if you ask
Two- or three-bedroom flat4 hoursWhole-flat clean with dishes and laundry
Family flat with two or more bathrooms5–6 hoursDeep bathrooms and kitchen, then the rooms
Flat before moving in or after moving out6–8 hours or two maidsDust, inside windows, kitchen and bathrooms

Treat this table as a guide for choosing, not a fixed rule. If you send a quick photo of the kitchen or bathroom with your booking message, we will tell you whether your chosen length is enough or whether you need an extra hour.

How does the maid tidy a home office?

She dusts the desk surface, shelves and the outside of the screen with a soft dry cloth, straightens visible books and files without opening them or changing their order, sweeps and mops under the desk and chair, and empties the bin. Papers and devices are not touched without your permission.

In Al Murabba flats, the office is often a corner of the living room or a small spare room used for remote work or for running business in the city centre. This corner gathers dust quickly because electronics attract it, and coffee cups and papers pile up around it. Twenty minutes of the visit is enough to put it back in order, and it is one of the things you notice most when you sit down to work the next day.

What if my building has no lift?

A building without a lift is fine; just tell us the floor when you book. The maid carries her own basic tools, and knowing the floor in advance helps us plan her arrival so she can start straight away.

Entrances in the older Al Murabba blocks can look alike, and a building may have two doors or a back entrance. So please send the building name or number, the flat number, the floor, a location pin and any obvious marker near the entrance, such as a shop or a mosque. If the street door opens with a buzzer or a code, tell us how you will let the maid in.

  • Building and flat number: so the maid does not knock on a neighbour’s door.
  • Floor and lift: helps us estimate her arrival.
  • Location pin: more accurate than a street description in the city centre.
  • Who opens the door: ideally a woman of the household is home during the visit.

Shared building stairs

A visit is for the inside of your flat. Cleaning the shared stairwell, entrance or roof of the building is not included; that belongs to the building management.

How is a dining corner or small dining table cleaned?

The maid wipes the table and chairs with a cleaner suited to the surface, lifts light stains from fabric seats, sweeps and mops under the table where crumbs fall, and straightens the tablecloth and any display plates.

In small flats the dining table is usually right next to the kitchen or part of the living room, so cooking smells and oil spray reach it. The maid therefore wipes the nearby wall if it is washable and cleans the outside of a wall-mounted air conditioner if one sits above the table. If you are having a few friends or relatives over, she can set the table beforehand and wash up afterwards.

Put your priority first

Write the three most important jobs in order in your booking message, for example kitchen, then bathroom, then office. If time runs short, the priorities are already done.

Will the maid wash and iron for someone living alone?

Yes. Laundry, ironing and folding are core visit tasks, and they are among the most useful for anyone living alone in a studio or small flat in Al Murabba. The maid starts the washing machine at the beginning of the visit so the cycle finishes while she cleans, then hangs the clothes or moves them to the dryer, irons what dried from the previous load, and folds and puts away the rest. Thobes, shemaghs and formal shirts need care, so tell her if you have a preferred way of folding a shemagh or hanging a thobe. A full week of work clothes takes an hour or more of ironing; book 5 hours or add an extra hour from SAR 52.

How do you keep a central Riyadh flat free of dust?

A regular visit removes dust before it builds up. Flats in central Riyadh sit close to busy roads and shops, and dust comes in through old windows and wall or window air conditioners even when they stay shut. In each visit the maid wipes window sills and door frames from the inside, exposed surfaces such as the television, shelves and tables, and the outside of the air conditioner, then sweeps and mops last so falling dust does not settle back on a clean floor.

What does an hourly maid visit include in a flat?

A visit covers cleaning and tidying, sweeping and mopping, the kitchen and dishes, bathrooms, laundry, ironing and folding, inside windows, vacuuming sofas and rugs, and dusting. A visit can also be used to set up a small get-together or clean after it, or to prepare the flat for Ramadan and Eid.

It does not include full cooking, minding children or elderly people on their own, cleaning windows or facades from outside, or moving heavy furniture. In flats specifically, the maid does not clean the outside of a hanging balcony or anything that means leaning over the railing, for her safety.

Single visit or monthly package: which suits you?

Pick a single visit if you need a clean now and then, and a package if you want the flat in order every week without thinking about booking. A monthly package is not a live-in maid; it is hourly visits on fixed days: 4 visits × 4 hours from SAR 468, 8 visits from SAR 885, and 12 visits from SAR 1,325.

An employee living alone in a studio may manage with a 2-hour visit every week or two. A working couple in a two-bedroom flat, on the other hand, gets the kitchen, bathrooms and clothes kept in order by a weekly 4-hour visit, without losing the weekend to housework. You can move any visit or change the maid on WhatsApp in good time before the appointment, and asking for the same maid is possible depending on her availability.

Can the maid help prepare the flat for Ramadan and Eid?

Yes. Before Ramadan she cleans the kitchen, the outside of the fridge and the cupboards that will hold iftar dishes, rearranges the dining corner for a bigger spread, and washes serving sets stored since last year. Before Eid the focus moves to the living room where visitors sit: sofas and rugs vacuumed, tables wiped, glass doors and windows polished inside. In a small flat, a 4-hour visit before the occasion and a 2-hour visit after it to wash up usually cover everything. Slots fill fast in these seasons, so book a few days ahead on WhatsApp.

Are the maids legal, and from which countries?

The maids are legally employed with valid iqamas, trained, and modestly dressed. They include African maids such as Kenyan and Ugandan, and Bangladeshi maids; who is available changes at the time of booking.

In the city centre you may come across offers from unregistered cleaners, and the rules are clear. Under the Domestic Workers Regulation, an employer who lets their worker work for others can be fined up to SAR 20,000 or banned from recruiting for up to three years (Ministry of Human Resources). Employing, sheltering or transporting someone who breaks residence and labour rules can mean up to 6 months in prison and a fine reaching SAR 100,000 (General Directorate of Passports). Booking through a legal provider keeps you clear of all that.

What does the maid bring with her?

The maid comes with the basic cleaning tools; cleaning products are agreed when you book. In a small flat you may prefer her to use your own vacuum cleaner if you have one, since carrying one up the stairs is unnecessary. The company handles her transport both ways, and the clock starts when she reaches your door.
