A family back from a long trip, guests landing in two days, curtains nobody has touched since the season changed: these are the moments when residents of the Diplomatic Quarter most often ask for a maid. Gulf Al-Arab Company provides hourly maids in the Diplomatic Quarter, Riyadh to prepare bedrooms, change bed linen, look after curtains and clean the whole home. A 4-hour visit with one maid starts from SAR 138, morning or evening; we drop her off and collect her, and the resident arranges her entry at the gate beforehand. To book, call or WhatsApp us on 0561940026.
If you are new to the term, an hourly maid is a part-time housekeeper who comes for a fixed visit of a few hours and leaves the same day. Nobody moves in, and there is no sponsorship or long contract on your side.

When does a home in the Diplomatic Quarter need an hourly maid?
Mostly at specific moments, rather than every single day. The Diplomatic Quarter, known in Arabic as As Sifarat, sits in west Riyadh under the Irqah sub-municipality. Entry to the district is controlled, and it has villas and residential apartments, including serviced and hotel apartments that run their own housekeeping. Many residents travel and come back, or host relatives and colleagues for a few days, so “a visit for an occasion” is a more common request here than a fixed weekly slot.
Typical occasions: coming back from a long holiday to a closed-up home where Riyadh dust has crept in around the windows and doors; a guest arriving who needs a ready room with clean sheets and a sparkling bathroom; a change of season when heavy curtains need attention; or moving into, or out of, a home in the district. Each of these calls for a different length and order of work.
After travel
Dusting every surface, airing the rooms, changing the bedding, and wiping the kitchen and fridge inside.
Before a guest arrives
A guest room with fresh sheets, its bathroom cleaned, clean towels and a tidy living room.
Change of season
Curtains vacuumed in place; light ones taken down and washed if the care label allows.
Move-in or move-out
A thorough clean of the empty home before the furniture arrives or after it leaves.
What do we need from you before the appointment?
We need you to arrange the maid’s entry at the gate before the day of the visit, because access to the district is controlled and only the resident can set that up. When you book, tell us what details you need from us, such as her arrival time, and we confirm everything in advance so the visit does not lose time at the entrance. We do not send the maid until the arrangement is confirmed.
Important
Entry is arranged from your side as a resident; we give you the arrival information you need. If you live in a serviced or hotel apartment, check first how the building handles visiting housekeepers from outside.
Once entry is sorted, send us your location pin and the building name or villa number. The streets are carefully planned, but homes can look alike to someone visiting for the first time. The clock starts when the maid reaches your door.
How much is an hourly maid in the Diplomatic Quarter?
A 4-hour visit with one maid in the Diplomatic Quarter starts from SAR 138, and many residents choose a longer visit after travel or before guests. These are the rows closest to what people here ask for:
| Visit type | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| 2 hours, one maid | One or two guest rooms: linen, towels and bathroom | 92 |
| 4 hours, one maid | A whole apartment, with bedding changed in each room | 138 |
| 6 hours | A villa after the family returns: dust, kitchen, bedrooms | 204 |
| 8 hours | A villa with curtains vacuumed, with a mid-visit break | 234 |
| Two maids for 4 hours | A fast turnaround before same-day guests | 296 |
The total follows the hours, the number of maids, the size of the home and the slot; evening, Friday and holiday charges are confirmed at booking. An extra hour after the visit is from SAR 52, and for any special job, ask about the price on WhatsApp.
How are curtains cleaned in Diplomatic Quarter homes?
Most curtains are cleaned where they hang, with a vacuum and an upholstery nozzle, working top to bottom as far as the maid can safely reach. Windows in many homes here are large and the curtains long and heavy; taking them down from a height is dangerous work and is not part of a visit. Light curtains on lower windows can be unhooked from a small, stable step, washed at home if the care label allows, and rehung slightly damp so they fall straight.
This table shows what can be done during a visit for each type:
| Curtain type | What happens during the visit | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Light (chiffon or thin linen) | Unhooked from a low height and washed if the label allows | Rehung damp to straighten with little ironing |
| Heavy lined | Vacuumed in place with the fabric nozzle, edges shaken out | Full washing is outside the visit |
| Blackout | Vacuumed, light marks dabbed with a damp cloth | Never scrubbed, so the backing does not crack |
| Roller or slatted blinds | Each slat wiped with a barely damp cloth | Anything above a safe reach is left |

Please note
Do not ask the maid to stand on a chair or table to reach high rails. Tall curtains are cleaned in place; taking them down needs a specialist.
Changing the bedding and preparing a guest room: what is the right order?
Strip first, clean second, make the bed last. The old bedding comes off and goes into the washing machine, the room is cleaned while the bed is bare, and only then is the bed made, so cleaning dust never settles on fresh linen. The maid opens the window to air the room, removes pillowcases, duvet cover and sheet, wipes the headboard and bedside tables, vacuums under the bed as far as she can reach, mops, then pulls the fitted sheet tight and dresses the pillows and duvet.
In a guest room, a few small touches make the difference: towels folded at the foot of the bed, an en-suite with a spotless mirror, an empty bin, and a wardrobe with space and hangers. If you keep spare sets, ask for the sheet and pillowcases to be ironed after washing so the room looks hotel-ready.

How many rooms per hour?
As a rough guide, a maid prepares one bedroom and its bathroom in about an hour if the room is already tidy; it takes longer when dust has built up during a trip. So two hours suit two guest rooms, and four hours suit an apartment with its bedrooms, kitchen and living room.
Guests on the way, or family coming home?
Arrange the maid’s gate entry, message us the number of rooms and the time, and we will set up the visit.
Book nowWhatsApp 0561940026CallA home closed for weeks: where does the maid start?
With fresh air, then from top to bottom. She opens the windows if the weather allows, dusts shelves, frames, appliances and visible surfaces, then vacuums, then mops; mopping first would only let dust fall from the surfaces onto a clean floor. In the kitchen she opens a fridge that was left closed, wipes its shelves inside, and cleans the sink and the counters where dust has settled.
Next come the bathrooms: she runs the taps and shower for a moment after the long pause and cleans basins and mirrors. Finally she changes the family’s bedding, so everyone comes home to beds ready for the first night. For a whole villa after a long trip we suggest 6 hours, or two maids for 4 hours.
Before you travel: is a closing-up visit worth it?
Yes, because a home that is closed clean is far less work to reopen. On a pre-travel visit the maid empties the bins in every room so nothing smells on your return, washes and folds what is in the laundry basket and puts it away, cleans the kitchen and dries the sink, and helps clear the fridge of food that will not last a few weeks before wiping its shelves. If you have dust sheets, she covers the sofas or beds so less dust settles on them.
In the bedrooms she strips the used bedding and washes it, leaving the beds covered or freshly made as you prefer, and closes the windows after airing. Four hours usually cover an apartment and six hours a villa; book it a day or two before you fly so you still have time to pack.
Here is a short list of what is usually asked for on each side of a trip:
| Job | Visit before travel | Visit after return |
|---|---|---|
| Fridge | Clear what will spoil, wipe the shelves | Wipe inside and put away new shopping |
| Laundry | Wash and fold what is in the basket | Wash bedding and travel clothes |
| Dust | Cover furniture if sheets are available | Dust every surface first |
| Bedrooms | Strip used bedding | Make beds with fresh linen |
| Kitchen and bathrooms | Clean and dry the sinks | Run the water briefly, then clean |
What will the maid not do during an hourly visit?
Nothing dangerous, heavy or outdoors, and no full cooking. She will not climb to reach high chandeliers or tall curtains, clean exterior facades, move heavy furniture, hose down large courtyards, or work on pools and gardens. She does not take on sole care of children or elderly relatives, although she can work in a home with children while their parents are there.
What a visit does cover: cleaning and tidying, sweeping and mopping, the kitchen and dishes, bathrooms, washing, ironing and folding, the inside of windows, the majlis and rugs with a vacuum, dusting, preparing and serving hospitality at gatherings and cleaning up afterwards, Ramadan and Eid preparation, and cleaning before moving in or after moving out. It is better if a woman of the household is at home during the visit.
How do you book a maid in the Diplomatic Quarter?
Call or WhatsApp 0561940026 and we go through these steps with you:
- 1Tell us the occasion: back from travel, guests, curtains, a move-in clean, or a regular visit.
- 2Arrange entry: set up the maid’s entry at the gate and tell us what information you need from us.
- 3Pick the length and slot: 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours, morning or evening.
- 4Send your location: a location pin and the building name or villa number.
- 5Send a task list: a short message with the rooms, the spare linen and where it is kept.
- 6The visit: the maid arrives and the clock starts when she reaches your home.
Want the same maid next time? Ask for her and the company will send her when she is free. Changing the time or the maid is done on WhatsApp well before the appointment, especially since the entry arrangement may need updating too.
A dinner at home or visitors coming: how does the maid help?
She helps before, during and after, without cooking the food. Beforehand she tidies the living and dining rooms, polishes the glasses and plates you plan to use, sets up the coffee, tea and dates trays, and cleans the guest bathroom with small hand towels laid out. While guests are there she serves, clears empty cups and tops up whatever runs low. Once they leave, she washes up and puts the table and living room back as they were.
For this we suggest an evening visit that starts at least two hours before your guests arrive, lasting 5 or 6 hours depending on numbers, or two maids for 4 hours if it is a large group. Remember that the gate entry should be arranged for the time the maid arrives, not the time your guests do.
Tip
Put the serving dishes you want to use out on the kitchen counter before the maid arrives, and message her how you like things served, so she can get started straight away.
Do monthly packages suit residents here?
They suit residents who live in the district long term and want a steady routine. The 4 visits × 4 hours monthly package, once a week, starts from SAR 468; 8 visits start from SAR 885; and 12 visits from SAR 1,325. If you travel often, single visits may suit you better: one before you leave so the home is closed clean, and one when you come back.
For a district with controlled entry, a package has one more advantage: the maid and her arrival time become familiar, which makes the weekly entry arrangement easier. You can ask for the same maid across the package, subject to availability.
Our maids and the legal side
We work with maids from Kenya, Uganda and other African countries, as well as Bangladesh, and the choice on any given day depends on who is free when you book. All of them are employed legally with a current iqama, trained, and dressed modestly. Each maid carries her own basic cleaning tools; products are as we agree with you on booking.
A reminder on the rules: a domestic worker cleaning for anyone other than her own employer breaks the Domestic Workers Regulation, and the employer risks a fine that can reach 20,000 riyals or a ban on recruiting of up to three years (regulation text in Umm Al-Qura). Separately, the General Directorate of Passports penalises anyone using workers who violate residence and labour rules, with fines that can climb to 100,000 riyals as well as jail. A maid from a licensed company keeps you clear of all of this.
