If your home in As Suwaidi has more than one floor, the hardest parts to keep up with are usually the staircase that links the floors and the majlis that has to be ready for visitors. For these jobs and the rest of the house, Gulf Al-Arab Company sends hourly maids in As Suwaidi, Riyadh with visit lengths anywhere between 2 and 8 hours; four hours with one maid, from SAR 138, is the usual choice, in either a morning or an evening slot. Bookings go through 0561940026 by phone or WhatsApp.

Why does a multi-storey home in As Suwaidi need a visit plan?
A home on several floors needs a plan because, if the maid moves between floors at random, part of the hours is lost going up and down and carrying equipment. As Suwaidi sits in west Riyadh, inside the Al Uraija sub-municipality. It is a separate district from As Suwaidi Al Gharbi, which shares its name, and we serve both at the same prices.
In homes with a ground floor for the majlis, living room and kitchen, an upper floor for bedrooms, and perhaps an annexe or a covered roof room, the staircase is the artery everything passes through: children, guests, laundry baskets and shopping bags. That is why it gets dirty faster than anywhere else, with footprints on the treads, fingerprints on the banister and dust in the corners between steps.
For readers new to Riyadh, an hourly or part-time maid is a trained housekeeper who comes for the hours you book and leaves when they end; she does not live in. In this guide we explain how to divide those hours across the floors, how the stairs are cleaned safely without risky work, and how the majlis is prepared so it is fit for a guest at any time. If you live in an apartment in the district, the majlis and package sections will suit you too.
What does an hourly maid cost in As Suwaidi?
A 4-hour visit with one maid in As Suwaidi starts from SAR 138 and is usually enough for one floor with the stairs and the majlis. A multi-storey house needs longer or two maids. These are the best-fitting options:
| Visit type | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| 4 hours | One maid, the ground floor with the majlis and stairs | 138 |
| 6 hours | One maid, two floors with the stairs and bathrooms | 204 |
| 8 hours | One maid, the whole house including a covered annexe | 234 |
| Two maids for 4 hours | One maid per floor, with the stairs at the end of the visit | 296 |
| 8 visits × 4 hours package | Two visits a week, alternating between floors | 885 |
| 12 visits × 4 hours package | Three visits a week for a large house and family | 1,325 |
Your bill is shaped by how long the maid stays, whether one or two come, the size of the house and the time of day. Any evening, Friday or holiday charge is explained when you book. Anything missing from the table? Message us on WhatsApp and ask about its price.
Hourly staircase cleaning: how is it done safely?
Stairs are cleaned from the top down, one step at a time, so dust never falls on a step that is already done. The maid starts by sweeping or vacuuming each step, paying attention to the corner where the tread meets the wall, which collects the most dust and hair. Then she mops the steps with a damp, not wet, mop, because excess water on marble makes stairs slippery.
While mopping, the maid always stands on dry steps, never wet ones, and moves down slowly backwards. So it is better for the family to keep off the stairs while they are being cleaned, or to use only one side if the staircase is wide. Carpeted stairs are vacuumed with a narrow nozzle that reaches the edges.

The banister and the wall beside it
The banister is touched by every hand, so it collects fingerprints and grease. The maid wipes it with a damp cloth and a mild cleaner and then dries it, whether it is wrought iron, wood or glass. The wall alongside the stairs is wiped as high as can be reached from the step itself, because hand marks show clearly on it.
Chandeliers hanging over the stairwell and high windows in the stairwell are not part of the visit, because reaching them needs tall ladders or scaffolding, and that is work at height that an hourly maid does not do. We say this clearly so the maid is never asked to do something that puts her at risk.
Children or elderly relatives at home? Plan stair day like this
A wet staircase is the most dangerous spot in the house during a visit, especially with small children or elderly relatives who go up and down often. So we suggest cleaning the stairs while the children are at school, or telling the maid when someone in the family will need them so she can mop afterwards.
After mopping, the maid leaves the stairs to dry before they are used and, if you like, places a dry cloth or mat at the bottom so moisture is not carried onto the floor. In villas with a home lift, she wipes the door, buttons and inside walls, but she does not touch any technical parts. If an older family member relies on the banister, ask for it to be dried well after wiping so it is not slippery under the hand.
These arrangements take hardly any extra time from the visit, but they make cleaning day safe for everyone and let the maid work without worrying that someone will step on a wet tread.
Before stair day
Lift the toys, shoes and baskets that usually sit on the steps, and tell the maid if there is an outdoor staircase to the roof, so she knows whether it is part of the visit.
A floor-by-floor plan: what gets done on each level?
The most effective order in a multi-storey house is for the maid to start at the top and work down, leaving the stairs and ground floor until last. That way she never carries dust and equipment from a clean floor into another. Here is an example of a 6-hour visit in a two-storey house:
| Floor | What gets done | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| Upper floor | Bedrooms, making beds, bathrooms, dusting | 2 hours |
| Covered annexe | Tidying, light sweeping and wiping surfaces | Half an hour |
| Stairs | Sweeping or vacuuming, mopping, banister and adjacent wall | Half an hour to an hour |
| Ground floor | Majlis, living room, kitchen and guest bathroom | 2 hours |
| Finish | Mopping the entrance floor and a quick walk-round with the family | A quarter of an hour |
If you book fewer hours, the house can be split across two visits a week: the first for the upper floor, the second for the ground floor and majlis, with the stairs done on both. That is what the 8-visit package (two visits a week) allows, from SAR 885.

A guest notices the smell of the majlis, how the cushions are arranged and whether the side tables are clean, before anything else. So the maid starts by airing the majlis if the weather allows, then plumps and straightens the cushions and back rests at even angles, wipes the tables and their edges, and vacuums the sofas and rugs.
Velvet sofas need particular care, because hair and dust cling to them and the direction of the pile changes their colour. The maid vacuums them with a soft nozzle in one direction, then passes a dry cloth over them. Leather sofas are wiped with a barely damp cloth and dried. She also wipes picture frames and ornaments from a safe height and polishes glass table tops if there are any.

Other majlis details families ask for include cleaning the coffee and tea set and putting it in place, setting out plates of dates, and keeping tissues within guests’ reach. All of this falls under preparing hospitality, which the visit includes. If the visit is only a few hours before guests arrive, it is best for the majlis to be the last room the maid cleans so it stays exactly as she left it when they walk in.
Getting the majlis right is not only about what shows. Weeks of dust gather under the sofas and behind the back rests, along with bottle caps and bits of sweets dropped during visits. The maid pulls out whatever light seating can be moved safely, vacuums underneath, and runs the long nozzle under anything that stays put. The large rug in the middle of the room is vacuumed with the pile and then against it, which lifts the fine sand trapped deep inside.
Men’s majlis, women’s majlis and annexe: how are the hours divided?
When a house has more than one majlis, each is treated as a separate room when working out the hours. These examples can help you estimate:
One majlis and a living room
An hour to an hour and a half within a 4-hour visit, including the guest bathroom.
Separate men’s and women’s majlis
Two to two and a half hours; a 5- or 6-hour visit is better for the whole house.
Covered outdoor annexe
Half an hour to an hour for sweeping, mopping and arranging the seating inside.
Before a big occasion
Two maids for 4 hours: one for the sitting rooms, one for the kitchen, stairs and bathrooms.
Keep in mind that the annexe is included if it is roofed and part of the house, but large open courtyards that need hosing down are not. The maid can sweep the entrance path and wipe the front door, but she does not wash the whole courtyard with water.
One long visit, or shorter visits through the week?
For a large house with many occupants, shorter, more frequent visits usually work better than one long visit, because dust and clutter never build up. Instead of 8 hours once a week, you could choose the 12 visits × 4 hours package (3 visits a week) from SAR 1,325, so the stairs and majlis are always ready.
A house with fewer occupants, or one whose majlis is used only at weekends, may manage with one 6- or 8-hour visit a week, or the 4 visits × 4 hours package from SAR 468. It depends on how the family lives rather than on floor area alone.
With a package you can ask for the same maid, subject to availability. In a multi-storey home this saves a lot of time, because she remembers where the equipment is kept on each floor and what needs extra attention.
Which jobs are part of the visit, and which are not?
Every kind of indoor housework is part of the visit: stairs, majlis, bedrooms and living rooms, floors swept and mopped, the kitchen and washing up, bathrooms, laundry with ironing and folding, dusting, window glass polished from the inside, and rugs and seating vacuumed. Hospitality is included too, serving at occasions and clearing up afterwards, as are Ramadan and Eid preparations and cleaning a home before moving in or when vacating it.
Not included are cooking full meals, taking sole care of children or elderly relatives, any work at height or on exterior facades, lifting and moving heavy furniture, washing large courtyards with water, and pools and gardens. The maid brings basic cleaning tools, and cleaning products are as agreed at booking. It is preferable for one of the ladies of the house to be at home during the visit.

What does the Domestic Workers Regulation say about hours and safety?
The Domestic Workers Regulation, published in the official gazette Umm Al-Qura, caps actual working time at 10 hours a day, says a worker should not work more than 5 consecutive hours without rest, and bans assigning dangerous tasks. That explains why work at height stays outside the visit, and why the most requested visit is 4 hours.
Our maids work through the company on valid iqamas, they are trained, and they wear a modest uniform. Depending on who is free when you book, your maid may be from an African country such as Kenya or Uganda, or from Bangladesh.
Avoid irregular workers
The same regulation forbids an employer from letting their domestic worker work for anyone else, with fines of up to SAR 20,000. Booking through a clearly identified company keeps you on the right side of the rules.
