After a big family gathering in Al Uraija, the house needs a full day of putting back: trays and pots, the floor spread (sufra), rugs, and mirrors covered in fingerprints. This is where hourly maids in Al Uraija, Riyadh from Gulf Al-Arab Company come in. A 4-hour visit with one maid starts from SAR 138, or you can book two maids together when there were many guests, morning or evening. Phone or WhatsApp 0561940026 to book.

What is left to do after a gathering, and why do Al Uraija families book help?
After a gathering (azeema) there are large dishes to wash, the sufra to fold away, rugs to vacuum, a kitchen and guest bathrooms to clean, and sofas and cushions to put back. Done by the family alone, after a long night of hosting and serving, these jobs take the whole of the next day.
Al Uraija is a district in west Riyadh, and it is the district that gives its name to the Al Uraija sub-municipality, which covers a number of western districts. Other districts share part of its name, such as Al Uraija Al Wusta and Al Uraija Al Gharbi, so when you book we ask you to give the district name exactly as it appears in your national address, or to send your location pin, so there is no mix-up on the way.
In Riyadh’s family neighbourhoods, gatherings are part of the week: Friday lunch with relatives, dinner for guests from out of town, an engagement or a graduation. An hourly maid (also called a part-time maid) is a trained housekeeper booked for a set number of hours who leaves when the visit ends, which makes her ideal for exactly this kind of one-off job. This guide focuses on what comes after the gathering rather than before it, and on glass and mirrors, which show up any shortfall in tidying. Those are the two things families ask about most when they book a maid for this purpose.
Hourly maid prices in Al Uraija
A 4-hour visit with one maid in Al Uraija starts from SAR 138, and that normally covers setting the house right after a medium-sized gathering. Large gatherings are better handled by two maids. These are the most requested options for this kind of work:
| Visit type | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| 2 hours | One maid, polishing mirrors and glass and tidying the entrance before guests arrive | 92 |
| 4 hours | One maid, dishes, kitchen and living room after a family gathering | 138 |
| 5 hours | One maid, majlis, living room, kitchen and bathrooms after guests | 184 |
| 6 hours | One maid, the whole house after an occasion that went on for hours | 204 |
| Two maids for 4 hours | Large gathering: one on the kitchen and dishes, one on the majlis and rugs | 296 |
What you finally pay is worked out from the hours, the number of maids, the size of the house and the slot. If the visit falls on a Friday, a holiday or in the evening, any surcharge is confirmed at booking. For anything not listed here, ask about the price on WhatsApp.
Cleaning up after a gathering: when should you book?
The best time is usually the morning after, when the house is quiet and the family has rested, and the maid can start in the kitchen without anyone in her way. If the gathering was a lunch that finished before the afternoon prayer, you can book the evening slot the same day so the dishes are not left overnight.
Leaving trays and dishes until morning is fine as long as the food is scraped off and they are left to soak, which makes washing much quicker. Rugs are another matter: crumbs and coffee spills are best not left long. If you spot a stain, just blot it with a tissue without rubbing, and leave it for the maid to treat on the visit.

For gatherings with many guests, book at least 5 hours or two maids, because the majlis, the living room, the kitchen and the bathrooms all need attention at the same time. If your home has separate men’s and women’s majlis, count each as its own area when estimating the hours.
The order of work after a gathering: where does the maid start?
The maid starts in the kitchen, because dirty dishes take up space and hold smells, then moves to the guest areas and finishes with the floors. Here is a rough plan for a 4-hour visit after a medium gathering, which can be adjusted to your home:
| Stage | What the maid does | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| Start | Scraping trays and washing large dishes and pots | 1 to 1.5 hours |
| Kitchen | Wiping worktops, hob and sink, putting dishes away | Half an hour |
| Majlis and living room | Folding the sufra, vacuuming rugs, plumping cushions, wiping tables | 1 hour |
| Bathrooms | Cleaning the guest bathroom, basins and mirrors | Half an hour |
| Finish | Mopping floors, taking out rubbish bags, tidying the entrance | Half an hour |
If the gathering was very large, 4 hours may not cover all of that. You can then add an hour or two, or ask for two maids to share the work so the visit ends sooner. Remember the time starts when the maid arrives, so keep the kitchen free for her from the first minute.
Do not forget the smell of the majlis after a gathering, a mix of food, coffee and incense that settles into cushions and curtains if the room is shut straight away. So the maid opens the windows at the start of the visit if the weather allows, shakes out cushions and back rests, and vacuums the floor seating and rug edges where crumbs collect. Once the mopping is done the windows are closed before dust blows in, and if you then want to burn bukhoor in the majlis, the room smells fresh and pleasant.
On the night of the gathering
Bag the leftover food, keep what is good in the fridge, and leave the trays soaking in water. This simple step saves half an hour of the visit the next morning.

Yes, the maid washes all the hospitality ware after a gathering, from the dallah coffee pots and flasks to the small coffee cups, tea glasses, and plates for dates and sweets. These pieces need their own approach: a brass or plated dallah should never be scrubbed with anything abrasive, and a flask with parts that cannot get wet is not dunked in water, but rinsed inside with warm water and wiped on the outside.
The maid starts by emptying the flasks of leftover coffee and tea, rinses them in warm water and leaves them upside down to dry. The cups are washed in a separate batch from the greasy plates so they do not pick up food smells, then dried and stacked back in their box or cabinet. Large serving trays are wiped on both sides and dried thoroughly before they are put away, so no water marks are left.
If you have valuable or heirloom serving pieces you are particular about, point them out at the start of the visit or set them aside to wash yourself. That is common in many homes, and the maid will handle it however you prefer.
The guest bathroom after an occasion
The guest bathroom is one of the busiest spots during a gathering, so the maid gives it its own slot at the end of the visit: basin, toilet and floor cleaned, the mirror polished, the bin emptied, hand towels swapped for fresh ones, and the soap topped up if you have a refill at home. After that the house is ready for any visitor who drops by the same day.
Polishing mirrors and glass: how do you get it streak-free?
Glass comes out streak-free when it is wiped with a clean microfibre cloth and a light cleaner, in steady top-to-bottom strokes, then dried with a second, dry cloth. The streaks you usually see on mirrors come from a dirty cloth or too much cleaner, not from the glass itself.
Many homes have glass everywhere: the entrance mirror guests stop in front of, bathroom mirrors, glass coffee tables, display cabinet doors and shower screens. All of them pick up fingerprints, steam and dust and look dull even when the house is clean. That is why many residents ask for them to be polished the day before an occasion and again afterwards.

Bathroom mirrors need particular care, because water and soap spots dry on them and leave white rings. The maid removes these spots with a suitable cleaner first, then polishes the whole mirror. She takes care around the frame and any lighting built around the mirror, wiping it with a barely damp cloth rather than wetting it.
High glass, such as large mirrors over a staircase or tall windows in double-height living rooms, is wiped only as far as she can reach from a safe level, because the visit does not include work at height. Likewise, the outside of upper-floor windows is not part of the visit.
Which glass in the house will the maid clean?
The maid cleans all the indoor glass she can reach safely. These are the surfaces families ask for most:
Entrance mirror
The first thing a guest sees: fingerprints wiped and the glass polished, with its frame and the console below.
Glass tables
Cup rings and fingerprints removed from both sides if the glass top can be lifted.
Display cabinets
Door glass and inner shelves, with the displayed pieces wiped if you wish.
Shower screens and bathroom mirrors
Water and soap spots removed, then polished until the glass is clear again.
These jobs can be added to the after-gathering visit, or booked as a short separate visit before the occasion. In the second case 2 hours is usually enough for the mirrors and glass on the ground floor.
One maid or two after a large gathering?
One maid is enough for an ordinary family gathering. If there were many guests, or both majlis and the living room were in use, two maids for 4 hours is better, from SAR 296. One takes the kitchen and dishes, the other the majlis, rugs and bathrooms, and the house is back to normal before noon.
When you book, tell us roughly how many guests came, how many sitting rooms were used, and whether food was served on a floor spread or at a table. That lets us suggest the number of maids and hours accurately, so no work is left after the maid goes and you do not pay for time you did not need.
Al Uraija, Al Uraija Al Wusta or Al Uraija Al Gharbi?
We send maids to all three districts at the same prices, but the similar names can confuse the route. Write the district name as it appears on your national address and send your location pin when you book.
What is covered in Al Uraija, and what will the maid not do?
The visit is for housework inside the home. After a gathering the maid can combine washing up with cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms, sweeping and mopping, vacuuming majlis seating and rugs, dusting and polishing indoor glass. On other days the same hours can go to laundry, ironing and folding, to setting out coffee and refreshments and serving before guests arrive, to preparing the house for Ramadan and Eid, or to cleaning a home before you move in or after you move out.
She does not cook the food for the gathering, since full cooking is outside the visit, and she does not look after children or elderly relatives by herself. She does not work at height or clean facades from outside, move heavy furniture, or hose down large courtyards, pools and gardens. Basic cleaning tools come with her, cleaning products are as agreed at booking, and we prefer a woman of the family to be present during the visit.
Booking an hourly maid in Al Uraija, step by step
Send a WhatsApp message or call 0561940026. We will need the following from you:
- 1The type of visit: tidy-up after a gathering, glass polishing before an occasion, or a regular home visit.
- 2Roughly how many guests came, and how many sitting rooms and bathrooms were used.
- 3The day and slot, morning or evening, and the number of hours or maids.
- 4Your location pin, with the district name as on your national address to avoid confusing the Al Uraija districts.
- 5We confirm the time and price, and the maid arrives in the company car and returns in it when the time is up.
To move the appointment or swap the maid, drop us a WhatsApp message in good time before the visit. You can also ask for the same maid at your next occasion, subject to availability, so she already knows where your dishes and trays live.
Legal workers: why does it matter before a gathering?
Because gatherings are when offers of a “maid for the day” from people renting out their own workers become common, and that breaks the rules. Our maids work through the company on valid iqamas, have been trained, and dress modestly. You may be sent a Kenyan or Ugandan maid, among other African nationalities, or a Bangladeshi maid; it depends on who is free on the day you book.
Figures from enforcement
In a report carried by Al Watan, the human resources ministry (MHRSD) was said to have taken 568 decisions against violators, with 222 employers penalised for hiring out their domestic workers to others. Booking through a company keeps you clear of this violation.
