Gulf Al-Arab Company provides hourly maids in Ash Shifa, Riyadh: a vetted cleaner comes to your home for the number of hours you book, then leaves. An hourly (part-time) maid is not a live-in worker; you simply pay for visits. Most people start with four hours and a single maid, priced from SAR 138, and many households turn it into a fixed weekly visit on a monthly plan. Our driver brings her to your door in Ash Shifa and picks her up when her hours are done. To book, call or WhatsApp us on 0561940026.

- One quick task: a 2-hour visit, from SAR 92

What do Ash Shifa households pay for a maid by the hour?
A short 2-hour visit starts from SAR 92, a standard 4-hour visit from SAR 138, and a weekly plan from SAR 468 a month. We have ordered the table below from the weekly arrangements down to one-off visits, because most enquiries we get from Ash Shifa are about a regular routine rather than a single clean:
| Visit type | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly plan, 4 visits | one visit every week on a fixed day, 4 hours each | 468 |
| Monthly plan, 8 visits | two visits a week for homes with lots of laundry and cooking | 885 |
| Monthly plan, 12 visits | three visits a week for a home that stays tidy all the time | 1,325 |
| Single 4-hour visit | to try the service before committing | 138 |
| Two maids for 4 hours | a duplex or a house with many rooms, split between two maids | 296 |
| 2-hour visit | one job only, such as the fridge or changing the bed linen | 92 |
Four things set your bill: how long, how many maids, how big the home is, and which shift. If there is any charge for evenings, Fridays or public holidays, we confirm it in the booking message before the visit, so nothing appears that you were not told about. Running over? Adding an hour costs from SAR 52, provided her next booking leaves room for it.
Where is Ash Shifa, and what are its homes like?
Ash Shifa is a residential district in south Riyadh. It also gives its name to the sub-municipality that covers several southern districts, including Badr, Al Marwah and Okaz. You will see it written both as Ash Shifa and Al Shifa (and in Arabic as الشفا or الشفاء); they all mean the same place, and people often use the name loosely for the whole south of the city because of the sub-municipality.
In south Riyadh, most homes are typically family homes: flats in residential buildings, duplexes and houses with several bedrooms, a majlis and a living room, shared by a good number of family members. Homes like these do not get dirty all at once. Small jobs pile up day by day: dishes, laundry, beds that need changing, a bottom fridge shelf full of leftovers. That is the idea behind this page: how to make an hourly maid part of your week in Ash Shifa, instead of calling one only when the house has reached breaking point.
Living on a new street or in a building with no clear sign?
Send us your home location pin on WhatsApp with the floor number and the colour of the gate or building. It saves the driver time and keeps your visit on schedule.
Why do Ash Shifa families choose a fixed weekly visit?
A fixed weekly visit means the house never reaches the heavy-cleaning stage, because the maid is back every seven days before dust and laundry build up. If you book a maid once a month, her four hours go on clearing the backlog and there is no time left for wardrobes or the fridge. With a weekly visit, each session starts from a fairly clean home, so the hours can go on one extra job every time.
There is another benefit people notice after a month or two: the fixed day becomes part of the household routine. The lady of the house knows that, say, Wednesday is maid day, so the laundry gets gathered the night before and a short list goes on the fridge door. And if the same maid is available for the following visits, she learns how your home works: where the towels go, how the family likes clothes folded, and which room is off-limits unless she is asked.

Flexible timing

Try first
Start with a single visit; if it suits you, switch to a monthly plan.
A four-week plan: how to spread the jobs across a month
The best way to use a monthly plan is to keep the core jobs fixed on every visit, then add one bigger job that changes from week to week. This table is a practical example for a family home in Ash Shifa with one 4-hour visit a week; adjust it to what matters to you:
| Week | Fixed jobs on every visit | Extra job this week |
|---|---|---|
| Week one | kitchen and dishes, bathrooms, sweeping and mopping | empty the fridge and clean its shelves and drawers |
| Week two | kitchen and dishes, bathrooms, sweeping and mopping | change, wash and fold the bed linen |
| Week three | kitchen and dishes, bathrooms, sweeping and mopping | inside of the windows and dusting the shelves |
| Week four | kitchen and dishes, bathrooms, sweeping and mopping | sort one wardrobe, or vacuum the majlis and its rugs |
This way every part of the home gets a deeper clean at least once a month, without one long, exhausting visit. If your home is too big for four hours a week, it is usually better to move to two visits a week than to stretch one visit longer, because dishes and laundry come back every single day and cannot wait a whole week.

Cleaning a fridge usually takes between one hour and an hour and a half of the visit, depending on its size and number of doors, and covers emptying, washing, drying and restocking. Many families put it off for months because it needs an unbroken block of time, which is exactly what an hourly maid visit gives you.
The maid takes the contents out shelf by shelf and sets them on the kitchen counter, or in a cool box if you have one. She removes the glass shelves and drawers and soaks and scrubs them in warm, mildly soapy water, wipes the inside walls and the rubber door seal where stains collect, then dries every piece before it goes back. Finally she puts the food back in an order you agree on: dairy on one shelf, vegetables in the drawer, leftovers in closed boxes at the front so nothing is forgotten.

Tip for fridge day
Schedule the fridge just before your weekly shop. It will be nearly empty, the maid finishes faster, and the new groceries go onto clean shelves.
The decision to throw any food away is always yours; the maid does not discard anything without asking. If you have a separate freezer that needs defrosting, mention it when you book, because defrosting takes time. It is best to switch it off a few hours before the visit so the maid spends her time cleaning rather than waiting.
Changing and washing bed linen: handling the bedrooms in one visit
In a home with several bedrooms, all the beds can be changed in one visit if the maid starts the washing machine first and moves on to other jobs while it runs. That simple order is what lets four hours cover the bed linen for the whole house, with the kitchen and bathrooms done at the same time.
She strips the covers and pillowcases, sorts them by colour and fabric, and loads the first batch. Then she airs the mattresses, wipes the headboards and bedside tables, and makes the beds with fresh sheets, tucking the corners firmly. When the cycle ends she hangs the batch or moves it to the dryer and starts the next one. If the covers dry before the visit ends, she folds them and puts them away the way your household does.

For large families we suggest splitting the rooms over two weeks: the parents’ and guest rooms one week, the children’s rooms the next, so the maid is never left with more laundry than the hours allow. Ironing can be part of the same visit, but the whole family’s clothes plus the bed linen usually need a longer visit or a second maid.
Where does an Ash Shifa maid visit stop?
An hourly visit is for cleaning, tidying, laundry and ironing inside the home. It does not include full cooking, or looking after a child or an elderly person on their own. We state these limits clearly because knowing them before you book avoids misunderstandings on the day.
- No full meal cooking, although the maid washes the pots and cleans the hob afterwards.
- No looking after a child or an elderly relative on her own; ideally a woman of the family stays in during the visit.
- No risky work at height and no cleaning of exterior facades.
- No moving heavy furniture, no hosing down large yards, and no pools or gardens.
Beyond that, a visit covers a lot: bedrooms and living areas, the kitchen and dishes, bathrooms, the laundry from wash to fold, ironing, interior window glass, vacuuming the majlis and its rugs, and dust on every surface. For gatherings the maid helps set up the hospitality, serve, and clean up afterwards, and before Ramadan and Eid she helps get the home ready.
How do I book, and how do I change a visit?
One WhatsApp message or one phone call is enough; the slot and the amount are then confirmed to you in writing. Here is the sequence our Ash Shifa customers follow:
- 1Describe the home: Ash Shifa or a nearby district, flat, duplex or house, plus bedrooms and bathrooms.
- 2Choose the arrangement: a single visit, a weekly plan, or two visits a week.
- 3Pick the shift: morning or evening, and the weekday that suits you.
- 4Get the confirmation: we send the price and time, plus any charge for the shift or day if one applies.
- 5Open the door: she turns up with her essential equipment, and which cleaning products are used is settled when you book.
If you need to move one of your plan visits or change the maid, message us on WhatsApp well before the appointment so we can rearrange it without you losing the visit. Travel time is never on your bill: counting begins when she knocks.
How should you prepare for maid day in Ash Shifa?
The best preparation is a short list of priorities and the laundry gathered in one spot before the maid arrives; that alone can save close to half an hour of the visit. She walks in not yet knowing your home, and every minute spent asking where the mop is kept or which room comes first is a minute taken out of the cleaning.
A note on the fridge
Three jobs in order of importance is plenty; whatever gets done is crossed off, the rest rolls into next week.
One laundry basket
Collect the bedroom clothes in one or two baskets by the machine, and set aside anything that must not go in hot water.
Valuables away
Put gold, cash and important papers in a locked cupboard before the visit; it puts both you and the maid at ease.
Closed doors
If a room is off-limits, shut it and tell the maid at the start.
In weeks with lots of visitors, such as Eid or when relatives come from outside Riyadh, you can turn the weekly visit into a longer one, or add a second maid just once, without cancelling the plan. Let us know before the appointment and we only charge the difference in hours. And if the family travels for a week, there is no need to lose the visit: move it to the week you return, when the house most needs sorting after suitcases and travel.
A word on products
If you supply the cleaning products, keep them in their original bottles so the maid knows what goes on each surface, and make sure bleach is never mixed with ammonia-based or acidic cleaners.
Who are the maids, and why does legal hiring matter?
Every maid we send to Ash Shifa holds a current iqama, has housework training, and works in a modest uniform. Most come from Kenya, Uganda and other African countries, or from Bangladesh; who is free varies at booking time, so write down any nationality you prefer and we will try to match it.
Why not just agree a price with a worker you meet? Because Saudi law makes the household liable. Under the domestic labour rules issued by the Ministry of Human Resources, a sponsor may not hire out a household worker to other homes; the stated penalty reaches SAR 20,000, or the sponsor can be barred from recruiting. Separately, the Jawazat (Passports) penalties for housing, transporting or employing someone in breach of residency rules go as high as SAR 100,000 and half a year in jail. With a company booking, papers, residency and transport sit with the company, and you stay clear of all of it.
