Hourly Maids in Al Marwah, Riyadh

Hosting family or friends at your home in Al Marwah? Gulf Al-Arab Company sends hourly maids in Al Marwah, Riyadh to prepare the hospitality before guests arrive, help with serving, and then wash the dishes and clean the kitchen, seating areas and inner courtyard once they leave. An hourly maid is a part-time helper booked for set hours, not a live-in maid. The usual visit is 4 hours with one maid, from SAR 138; bigger gatherings need two maids or a longer visit. Call or WhatsApp 0561940026 to book, ideally a few days before the occasion.

Al Marwah gatherings: the short version

  • After a small dinner: 4 hours, one maid, from SAR 138
  • Before and after: 8 hours with one maid, from SAR 234
  • Large gathering: two maids for 4 hours, from SAR 296
  • Quick tidy before guests: 2 hours from SAR 92
  • Fixed weekly family gathering: 4 visits a month, from SAR 468
  • Inner courtyard: swept and mopped on the visit, no hosing down

Should I book the maid before the gathering or after it?

If you can only book once, book for after the gathering: washing up and cleaning the kitchen and seating areas after guests is the heaviest and longest job. If the house also needs tidying beforehand, the best answer is one long visit that starts a few hours before guests arrive and runs past dinner, or two separate visits: a short one before and a longer one after.

Many families in south Riyadh gather for a weekly lunch or dinner at the parents’ home, with sons, daughters and grandchildren, and that alone leaves behind a full kitchen and seating that needs sorting. For that, we suggest a fixed visit the next morning: the maid finds everything as it was left, starts with the kitchen and finishes with the courtyard. Over time the visit becomes part of how the gathering is run, and the lady of the house no longer spends the following day washing up.

Before only

arranging the seating, cleaning bathrooms, preparing serving ware; two to four hours.

After only

dishes, kitchen, seating and courtyard; four hours at least.

One long visit

starts before guests and ends after them: eight hours with one maid.

Two visits

a short one on the day and a longer one the next morning.

How much does an hourly maid cost for a gathering in Al Marwah?

Prices start from SAR 92 for two hours before guests, SAR 138 for four hours afterwards, and SAR 296 for two maids at larger occasions. We have ordered the table by the size of the gathering rather than the hours, because that is what people usually ask about:

Visit typeDetailsFrom (SAR)
Two hours before guestsa quick tidy of the majlis and living room and the guest bathroom92
4 hours after a family dinnerdishes, kitchen, seating, and sweeping the inner courtyard138
6 hourssetting up hospitality, then cleaning after a medium gathering204
8 hours, one maidfrom before guests arrive until after they leave234
Two maids for 4 hoursa big occasion with two majlis rooms and a busy kitchen296
One extra hourif dinner runs late or kitchen work is left52

The final amount depends on hours, number of maids and the size of the home. Evening slots, which most gatherings need, may carry a charge that we explain when you book, not afterwards; the same goes for Fridays and Eid. If your occasion needs more than two maids, such as a wedding at home or condolences lasting several days, ask for the price on WhatsApp and we will work it out by the hour.

Al Marwah: where it is and what suits its homes

Al Marwah is a district in south Riyadh, under the Ash Shifa sub-municipality alongside districts such as Badr, Okaz and Ash Shifa itself. Note that Jeddah also has a district called Al Marwah, so when searching for the service make sure you are reading about the Riyadh one; this page is entirely about it.

The homes we get bookings from in Al Marwah are mostly family homes, some flats, some houses with a men’s majlis and a women’s sitting room, and some with a small inner courtyard used for sitting out on mild evenings. Homes like these are built for receiving guests, so small occasions are frequent: relatives dropping in, coffee after Asr, a weekend dinner. Each one needs cleaning before and after, and that is where an hourly maid helps: an extra pair of hands exactly when you need it.

Before you book for the day of the gathering

Tell us roughly how many guests, whether the food is cooked at home or ordered in, and how many majlis rooms will be used. Those three details are enough for us to suggest the hours and number of maids.

As a rough rule for Al Marwah homes: a dinner for up to fifteen guests needs one maid for four or five hours afterwards; fifteen to thirty guests is better with six hours or two maids; anything bigger needs two maids for a longer visit, or two visits on consecutive days. If the food is ordered in and served on disposables, the time drops a lot, and the maid’s hours go on seating, rugs and bathrooms instead of dishes.

Hour by hour: what the maid does on the day

On the day of a gathering the maid follows a clear order: preparation before guests, support during serving, then cleaning after they leave. Here is an example of an 8-hour visit to an Al Marwah home hosting guests for dinner; it can be shortened or adjusted to your timing:

Time from start of visitTaskPurpose
First hourvacuum the majlis and living room, wipe tables, arrange cushionsseating ready before anything else
Second hourclean the guest bathroom and basins, put out towelsthe first place guests go
Third hourwash coffee pots, cups and trays and set them outhospitality ready on arrival
Fourth and fifth hourshelp with serving, collect and wash dishes as they comea kitchen that never piles up
Last two hourswash what is left, clean the kitchen, sweep seating areas and the courtyarda tidy home before bedtime

The key to this plan is that the maid does not wait for guests to leave before washing up; she washes as dinner goes on, so there is no mountain of plates at the end of the night. If the food is cooked at home, the maid does not cook the meal, but she washes the pots as they are used and cleans the hob afterwards, keeping the kitchen usable all evening.

Washing up after a dinner: how the maid tackles the kitchen

The maid sorts the dishes before washing: glasses and coffee cups first because they are the most delicate, then plates, then greasy trays and pots last. In that order the washing water stays clean for the delicate pieces, and cups do not crack under heavy pots.

After sorting, she scrapes leftovers into one bag and soaks pots and trays with stuck-on rice or sauce in warm water while she washes the glassware. If there is a dishwasher she loads it with what suits it, and hand-washes what does not, such as decorated coffee pots and gilded plates. Then she dries everything and puts it away, wipes the counters and hob, cleans the sink, takes out the rubbish bags and mops the floor last.

Make the maid’s job easier

Keep a box or shelf for your special serving ware, so the maid knows where it goes back after washing and it does not get mixed with everyday dishes.

The dishes from a medium gathering alone can take two hours, which is why we do not suggest less than four hours for an after-dinner visit. If the majlis also needs cleaning and the rugs are full of crumbs, five hours or two maids working together is better: one in the kitchen, the other in the seating areas and courtyard.

A common mistake after dinners is leaving greasy pots overnight: fat and rice dry onto them, they get harder to clean, and the visit runs longer than it needs to. If the maid is coming the next morning, simply soak the big pots in soapy water before bed and cover the leftovers and put them in the fridge. That small step saves the maid around half an hour, which goes on the majlis, bathrooms or courtyard instead.

Cleaning the inner courtyard: what is included?

The visit includes sweeping and mopping a small inner courtyard, cleaning the outdoor seating and small tables, and collecting cups and paper left by guests. Hosing down or pressure-washing large yards is not part of an hourly maid’s work, and neither are gardens or pools.

In homes with an inner courtyard where dust and leaves collect, the maid sweeps from the edges to the middle, gathers the dust, then mops the tiles with a mop and bucket. She wipes outdoor chairs and tables and beats out the cushions if there is floor seating. If the courtyard is thick with dust after a windy day, it is best done last so the dust is not carried back into the cleaned house.

Check before booking

If your yard is large, open and needs washing down with water, that is outside a maid visit. Tell us its real size when booking to avoid any misunderstanding.

Ramadan and Eid in Al Marwah: planning the season’s visits

In Ramadan and Eid the number of guests doubles. The best plan is one big preparation visit a few days before Ramadan, shorter visits after family iftars, and a final one before Eid. Splitting it this way stops the whole month turning into a race against dishes and dust.

The pre-Ramadan visit focuses on what is not cleaned every week: the cupboards your serving ware will come out of, the majlis rooms that will open for visitors, the rugs guests will sit on, and the inside of the windows. After iftars, a four-hour visit the following morning is usually enough for the maid to wash the iftar dishes, clean the kitchen and reset the majlis. Before Eid you need the longest visit, six or eight hours, or two maids together, because the house receives its biggest crowd on Eid day.

Before Ramadan

a full preparation of majlis rooms, cupboards and serving ware; six hours or two maids.

After iftars

four hours the next morning for the kitchen and majlis.

Before Eid

a long visit for the whole house, including the inner courtyard.

Ramadan timings differ from the rest of the year and demand is high, especially in the last ten nights and just before Eid. So we advise fixing your slots early and telling us which part of the day suits your home during the month, before iftar or after taraweeh, so we can confirm what is available.

What will the maid not do at a gathering?

An hourly maid does not cook full meals, does not take sole charge of guests’ children or elderly relatives, and does not climb to risky heights to hang decorations or clean facades. Nor does she move heavy furniture to rearrange the majlis, so if you want sofas or large tables moved, arrange that before she arrives.

On the other hand, she helps with everything around hospitality and cleaning: washing and preparing coffee and tea sets, arranging sweets and dates on plates, serving drinks as you ask, collecting dishes from the seating areas, and a full clean after the guests. It is best for one of the ladies of the house to be there to guide her, especially with serving.

How to book before a gathering

Book at least two or three days ahead, especially for weekends and Eid when demand is high. The steps:

  1. 1Set the day and time: roughly when guests arrive, and whether you want the maid before, after or both.
  2. 2Describe the occasion: number of guests, number of majlis rooms, and whether you cook at home.
  3. 3Describe the home: Al Marwah, flat or house, and whether there is an inner courtyard.
  4. 4Get our suggestion and price: we suggest hours and maids, and confirm the price and any evening charge.
  5. 5On the day: the maid arrives with her basic tools, cleaning products as agreed, and her time starts on arrival.

If the gathering moves or is cancelled, let us know on WhatsApp as early as possible before the visit so we can rearrange it. The company takes the maid there and back, so you have no transport to organise on an already busy day.

If the gathering runs late into the night, say so clearly when booking: evening slots are limited and we need to know when the visit ends to arrange the maid’s return. In that case it may be better for the maid to come before guests and during dinner, then return the next morning to finish, rather than stretching the visit late.

Legal, vetted maids in your home on guest day

On a day your home is full of relatives, you want peace of mind about who is working in it. Our maids are legally employed on valid iqamas, trained and modestly uniformed, mostly from African countries such as Kenya and Uganda, or from Bangladesh, and who is free depends on the date you book. A short reminder of the rules: using a worker who is not with a licensed provider can expose a family to Passports penalties with fines up to SAR 100,000, and the Domestic Workers Regulation penalises anyone who lets their own worker work for others with a fine of up to SAR 20,000.
