In Al Oud, central Riyadh, Gulf Al-Arab Company provides hourly maids in Al Oud, Riyadh, for family flats and houses, and where a maid helps most here is with the weekly chores that wear a mother out: washing, ironing and folding, and changing the bed linen, along with the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. A 4-hour visit with one maid is from SAR 138, stretching to 5 or 8 hours when there is a lot of laundry. We take the maid to you and back. Call or WhatsApp 0561940026 to book.

What kind of homes are in Al Oud, and why does it matter when booking?
Al Oud is mostly rented flats, including family flats with two or three bedrooms, alongside older houses and plots for sale, such as one on Ibn Abi Al Izz Street. It is one of Riyadh’s old-core districts, listed by Bayut under “central Riyadh”, and part of the Al Batha sub-municipality with Al Marqab, Jabrah, Mikal and Utayqah. In English you will see it spelled “Al Oud” or “Al Owd”.
Knowing your type of home shapes the visit. A three-bedroom family flat has lots of beds, children’s clothes changed more than once a day, and towels and covers that fill the laundry basket fast; laundry and linen become the heaviest jobs in the house. In an older house, the majlis and floors take more time. That is why we ask about rooms, beds and family size when you book, not to add hours, but to suggest a length that actually gets the work done.
A note for expats: an “hourly maid” or “part-time maid” in Riyadh is someone who visits for booked hours, not a live-in helper. You do not sponsor her; she is employed by the company and comes on a fixed schedule with a task list agreed in advance.
Will an hourly maid wash, iron and fold clothes?
Yes. Laundry, ironing and folding are core visit tasks: the maid sorts the clothes, runs the machine, hangs the washing, irons what is dry, folds it and returns each item to its owner’s wardrobe. The best use of time is to start the machine as soon as she arrives, so the first load runs while she cleans the kitchen and bathroom; she then hangs it, puts in the second load, and at the end irons and folds whatever is dry from the first load or from an earlier wash.

This table shows how the maid handles the main laundry items in family homes:
| Item | Care | Note |
|---|---|---|
| White men’s thobes | Washed apart from colours, collar and sleeves ironed carefully | Tell her if you use starch or a particular way of pressing |
| Abayas and scarves | Gentle cycle or hand wash depending on fabric, hung on a hanger | Not wrung hard, so they do not crease or fade |
| Children’s clothes | Sorted by colour, washed with a mild detergent if available | Stubborn stains soaked before washing |
| Towels | Warm wash, separate from clothes | Folded only when fully dry, so they do not smell |
| Bed linen | A full set per cycle if the machine is big enough | Pillowcases ironed on request |
The maid uses no harsh products on fabrics without your say-so, and does not put “dry clean” or “hand wash only” items in the machine. If you have clothes like that, set them aside or point them out when she arrives. If you have a tumble dryer she will use it; if not, she hangs things on the indoor rack or on the balcony from the inside.
Sort the baskets before the visit
Keep one basket for whites and one for colours, and ask everyone to use them. That saves the maid a quarter of an hour of sorting and keeps the white thobe away from the red shirt.
How does the maid change bed linen in a large family home?
Bed by bed: sheets, pillowcases and duvet cover come off, the window is opened to air the room, the headboard and bedside table are dusted, then the clean set goes on, corners pulled tight and pillows arranged, and the used set goes straight to the machine. In a flat with four or five beds this takes a noticeable share of the visit, so allow for it when choosing the length.

Parents’ room
Full set changed, pillows arranged, bedside table and mirror wiped, clothes on the chair folded.
Children’s rooms
Linen changed, toys back in their box, floor under the beds mopped.
Guest beds
A clean set made up before guests arrive and washed again after they leave.
Heavy duvets
Aired and arranged; a large duvet that does not fit the machine goes to a laundry.
We suggest families change linen once a week and keep at least two sets per bed, one on the bed and one clean in the wardrobe. With a spare set ready, the maid makes the bed straight away and washes the other, so no bed is left bare while the washing dries.
Can a laundry visit also cover the rest of the home?
Usually yes, because the machine runs on its own while the maid cleans. In a 4-hour visit to a two-bedroom flat, two loads go through in the background while she does the kitchen, bathrooms, sweeping and mopping, and the last hour goes to ironing, folding and wardrobes. Time only runs short when every heavy job lands on one day: linen on all beds, a full week of washing, a pile of thobes and a kitchen after a family dinner. Then book 5 hours, or two maids sharing the work.
What is the hourly maid rate in Al Oud?
The rate in Al Oud starts from SAR 138 for a 4-hour visit. We chose the lengths that fit family flats and laundry days:
| Visit type | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| 4 hours | One maid, two-bedroom flat with laundry and linen | 138 |
| 5 hours | Three-bedroom flat with many beds | 184 |
| 8 hours | A full stint for cleaning, washing and ironing together | 234 |
| Two maids x 4 hours | One on laundry and ironing, one on kitchen, bathrooms and floors | 296 |
| 4 visits a month | One 4-hour visit a week | 468 |
| 8 visits a month | Two 4-hour visits a week | 885 |
What you pay in the end follows the hours, the number of maids, the size of the home and the time slot. Evening, Friday and holiday rates are confirmed at booking. If you need one more hour during the visit to finish the ironing, it is from SAR 52 when the maid is free to stay.
Laundry piling up in your Al Oud home?
Book a 4-hour laundry and linen visit, or two visits a week. Tell us your rooms and beds and we will suggest the best fit.
Book nowWhatsApp 0561940026CallHow do you split laundry across two visits a week?
By dividing the work between the visits instead of asking for everything every time. A family on the 8-visit plan can make the first weekly visit about linen, towels and bathrooms, and the second about clothes, ironing, folding, kitchen and floors. The laundry basket never overflows and the maid never spends half a visit on ironing alone.
- Start of the week: all bed linen changed and washed, towels, bathrooms cleaned, bedrooms swept.
- Mid or late week: coloured and white clothes washed, thobes and abayas ironed, folding and wardrobes, kitchen and floors.
- Before occasions: guest beds and towels prepared, majlis tidied, serving ware washed afterwards.
Keep the two visit days as fixed as you can, and ask for the same maid each time, subject to availability, so she learns how each person likes their clothes folded and where everything goes. If a date no longer works, move it on WhatsApp with good notice.
What is excluded when there are children at home?
Looking after children on her own is excluded. The maid cleans the children’s rooms, washes their clothes and puts their toys away, but she is not left in sole charge of them and does not feed them, nurse them or take them out. Also excluded: full cooking, sole care of an elderly relative, hazardous jobs such as tall ladders or outside windows, moving heavy furniture and hosing down yards.
That is why we prefer a lady of the house to be present: she looks after the children, guides the maid, and points out the items that need special care in the wash. Besides laundry, the visit covers sweeping and mopping, kitchen and dishes, bathrooms, inside window glass, majlis and rugs with the vacuum, dusting, guest preparation, Ramadan and Eid preparation, and move-in or move-out cleaning.
Detergents and babies
If there is a baby at home or someone sensitive to fragrance, say so before the visit and leave the detergent you use for them in plain sight, so the maid does not reach for another.
What does the Domestic Workers Regulation say about hours and working for others?
The Domestic Workers Regulation caps actual working time at ten hours a day, allows no more than five hours in a row without a break, and forbids assigning hazardous work. That is why a 4-hour visit has become the usual choice in the market: enough time to get a home done, within limits the regulation respects.
The same regulation forbids a domestic worker from working for others or on her own account; a worker who does so can be fined up to SAR 2,000, banned from working in the Kingdom, or both. So book through a company that employs the maid properly, not a maid offering to work by the hour for herself. Ours hold valid iqamas, are trained and dress modestly. You will meet Kenyan, Ugandan or other African maids, or Bangladeshi maids, according to who is free on your booking day.
