What do hourly maids do in Ash-Shati?
An hourly maid in Ash-Shati takes care of the indoor housework for a time you book: bedrooms, lounges, kitchen and bathrooms, laundry and ironing, and hospitality before and after guests. She is not a live-in maid; people also call this a part-time maid or a cleaner by the hour. She arrives at the agreed time, leaves when the hours are up, and our transport brings her and takes her back.
Two kinds of visit come up most in this district: a daytime visit to reset a home after a week of seaside living, and an evening visit after a family dinner to wash up and restore the majlis and kitchen. Each has its own approach, explained below with starting prices and the hours that suit each home.
Living by the sea in Ash-Shati: what it means for cleaning
Ash-Shati is a coastal district in west Jeddah right on the Red Sea. King Abdulaziz Road marks its eastern side, with As-Salamah and Az-Zahra beyond it; Al-Murjan lies to the north and Al-Andalus to the south. The Corniche runs through it, along with well-known spots such as Red Sea Mall, Al-Shati Market and the Al-Rahma mosque on the water, so the district stays busy late into the night.
Homes vary: detached villas close to the water, apartment buildings and compounds with flats of many sizes, and furnished apartments let to visitors. Being near the sea leaves its mark every day. Humidity makes dust cling to glass and mirrors, the breeze carries fine sand in on shoes and through sliding doors, and salt leaves a dull film on metal near the balconies.
So Ash-Shati homes do better with a steady routine than with a big clean now and then. A weekly visit keeps the glass clear and the floors free of sand before a layer builds up and becomes hard to shift.
Hourly maid prices in Ash-Shati, Jeddah

Starting prices on the Jeddah seafront, by type of home; your final bill reflects size, hours, number of maids and visit time:
| Visit type | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Four hours | Flat in a building or compound, one maid | 138 |
| Five hours | Large sea-view flat or one villa floor | 182 |

| Two maids together for four hours | After dinner or before guests | 296 |
| One more hour | When part of the job is left | 52 |
How many hours does an Ash-Shati flat or villa need?
A two- or three-bedroom flat is fine with four hours, a large flat with a wide balcony needs five, and a villa needs a full eight-hour day or two maids. Add an hour if you want every window and sliding door done on the inside, as humidity makes glass slower here. Friday, holiday and evening rates are confirmed when you book.
Sea air in the home, and what the maid does about it
This table sums up what we see most in Ash-Shati homes, how the maid handles it and roughly how much of the visit it takes:
Everyday issues in a coastal home and their expected time within a visit:
| What you notice | What the maid does | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| Haze on glass and mirrors | Wiped inside with glass cleaner, then dried with a soft cloth | 30 to 60 minutes |
| Fine sand at doors and balcony | Vacuumed before mopping so it does not scratch the floor | 20 to 30 minutes |
| Water spots on chrome and steel | Wiped then buffed dry | 15 to 20 minutes |
| Musty smell in wardrobes | A shelf or two emptied, wiped, aired and put back | Depends on how many |
| Throws and covers to wash | Washing machine run, items hung indoors, then folded | Runs alongside other work |
A tip from Corniche homes
Leave out the glass and marble cleaner you prefer, and keep the sliding doors shut during the visit on windy days; the result lasts longer.

Book nowWhatsApp 0561940026CallTwo maids after a family dinner: dishes and kitchen at night
After a dinner party in an Ash-Shati villa, two maids can finish the kitchen and majlis in about four hours, and this visit starts from SAR 296. We recommend it when you have more than ten guests, as the pile of dishes and trays is too big for one maid in a sensible time.

The two maids split the work: one at the sink with plates, pots and serving sets, the other drying and putting everything away. Then they move to the majlis together to collect cups and small plates, straighten the seating and vacuum the rugs. At the end the counters and floor are wiped and the rubbish taken out. They can also start during dinner to serve food and drinks, then carry on clearing, if you book enough hours.
Evening arrival time
Agree the arrival hour with us at booking, and let us know if dinner will run late so the maids neither wait nor start late. Time is counted from when they reach the villa.
Marble floors in Ash-Shati villas
Marble in Ash-Shati hallways and lounges shines when it is cleaned in the right order: sweep, then mop with a mild marble-safe cleaner, then dry. The order matters more here, because sand grains from the balcony scratch the surface if a mop is dragged straight over them.

If you have a steam mop at home the maid can use it on marble and porcelain; vinyl or wooden floors get a damp mop only. She also warns the family or puts a sign out while hallways are wet, so nobody slips before the floor dries.
Beach towels and laundry after a day on the Corniche
Families in Ash-Shati go down to the sea often and come back with wet towels and clothes full of sand and salt; left for a day or two, they start to smell damp. Many residents therefore ask the maid to start the washing machine first and clean the rest of the home while it runs.
She shakes sand off towels and clothes before they go in, so it does not collect in the drum, sorts whites from colours and cotton from delicates, hangs the washing indoors or on a shaded balcony, then folds and irons what needs it before the visit ends. Children’s beach toys and sandals get the same treatment: rinsed, dried and left in a basket by the door instead of spreading sand across the lounge. Allow an hour to an hour and a half for this; with a big load, book five hours instead of four.
Furnished flats and short lets in Ash-Shati
If you own a furnished flat in Ash-Shati and let it to visitors, a 4-hour turnaround visit usually covers a two-bedroom unit: bedding changed and washed, bathroom and kitchen cleaned, floors and balcony mopped and the lounge reset. For a larger flat, or one left in poor shape, five hours is the better choice.
Check-out and check-in times are fixed, so book in advance and send us both times, and we will pick a slot in between. You can repeat the same visit for every changeover and ask for the same maid, as she will already know where everything lives.
Where the maid stops: balconies and outside glass
The maid cleans the balcony floor and furniture and the glass from the inside, but she does not clean the outside of windows on high floors, stand on chairs or railings, or work on facades. Those jobs need specialist teams with safety equipment.
Done in her visit
Sweeping and mopping, bedrooms and lounge put in order, kitchen dishes and surfaces, bathrooms, washing with ironing and folding, window glass from inside, and the majlis carpet vacuumed.
Occasions and seasons
Preparing and serving refreshments, then clearing up, getting the house ready to welcome Ramadan or Eid, and cleaning an empty home before moving in or after moving out.
Outside the visit
Cooking whole meals, sitting alone with children or elderly relatives, outside glass and high work, and moving heavy pieces of furniture.
Please have one of the women of the household present during the visit, especially the first time, to show the maid around and explain what the home needs.
A licensed maid, or one from a seafront advert?
Ash-Shati is a busy tourist district, and offers of “maids ready now” circulate in messages and adverts. Many of these workers have left their sponsors or have no valid iqama. Using them makes you the one who is liable, and there is nobody to turn to if something goes wrong.
The penalties are published and specific: the General Directorate of Passports punishes anyone who employs, houses or transports a residency or labour violator, domestic workers among them, with up to 6 months in prison and a fine of up to SAR 100,000, rising with each additional violator. Our maids, by contrast, are legally employed with valid iqamas, trained for home work and dressed in a modest uniform, and we know exactly who each of them is.
