Hourly maids for As-Salamah families: the school-morning visit
The best time for a maid’s visit in As-Salamah is the morning slot on school days, when the children are out and the house is quiet, so in four hours she can clear what builds up over the week. Most families who contact us from the district ask for exactly this, because As-Salamah is a family area with many schools and household life follows the school timetable.
An hourly maid, also called a part-time maid, comes for the hours you book and then leaves; she does not live with you and needs no recruitment paperwork. When the visit falls on the same day every week it becomes part of the household routine: the week’s laundry ironed and folded, bathrooms and kitchen clean, and the children’s rooms tidy before they get home.
As-Salamah, Jeddah: location, boundaries and homes
As-Salamah is in north Jeddah. Madinah Road and Al-Bawadi lie to the east, Sari Street and Ar-Rawdah to the south, Prince Sultan Road to the west, and Hira Street and An-Naeem to the north. It also borders Az-Zahra, Ash-Shati, Al-Faisaliyah and Al-Khalidiyah. Well-known streets include Quraish Street and Al-Yamamah Street; the district has the Al-Yamamah walkway, parks, shopping centres, hospitals and a University of Jeddah branch.
It is mainly a family residential district where apartments are the most sought-after homes, usually in buildings of three to five floors, with villas for larger families on some inner streets. The district is home to dozens of boys’ and girls’ schools, which gives life here a regular rhythm: out to school and work in the morning, back after midday, and evenings for homework and family visits.
That rhythm shapes the service people want: fixed weekly visits more than emergency ones, with a focus on laundry and ironing, bedrooms and the kitchen, the jobs that wear out a working mother or a parent busy with children.
Hourly maid prices in As-Salamah, Jeddah
Hourly maid prices in As-Salamah start from SAR 92 for two hours, SAR 138 for four hours and SAR 468 a month for a visit every week. Since most families here book regularly, the plans come first in the table:
Starting prices for As-Salamah homes; the last figure follows hours, maids, the size of the flat or villa and the chosen slot:
| Visit type | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly plan | Four visits a month, 4 hours each | 468 |
| Twice-weekly plan | Eight visits a month, 4 hours each | 885 |
| Single 4-hour visit | One maid for a family flat | 138 |
| Short 2-hour visit | Laundry and ironing, or kitchen and bathrooms | 92 |
| An hour over the booking | When needed and if the maid is free | 52 |
On the weekly plan each visit works out at about SAR 117 instead of SAR 138, and on the twice-weekly plan about SAR 111, a clear saving for a family that needs a maid every week anyway. Larger families in villas are better served by the 12-visit plan (three visits a week) from SAR 1,325. Friday, holiday and evening visits are priced when you book.
How to split two visits a week
On the twice-weekly plan, make the first visit early in the week for laundry and bedrooms and the second towards the end for the kitchen, bathrooms and living room. This is the split most of our As-Salamah clients settle on:
A suggested schedule for a family in a 3 or 4-bedroom flat:
| Visit | Main tasks | Why this timing |
|---|---|---|
| First (start of the week, morning) | Wash and iron school and work clothes, tidy bedrooms, change bedding | The family starts the week with clothes ready and rooms in order |
| Second (mid or late week) | Kitchen and dishes, bathrooms, floors, living room and entrance | Home ready for the weekend and family visits |
| As needed (2 hours) | An extra job such as a big ironing pile or a wardrobe sort | No need to wait for the next visit |
Keep the same maid
On a plan, ask for the same maid whenever possible; knowing where things go and how you like them saves time on every visit. We send her subject to availability.

In a home with school-age children, the entrance is the fastest place to get dirty: shoes, school bags, keys and dust coming in with every trip. The maid often starts here because everyone passes through it, mopping the floor, lining up shoes in the cabinet and wiping its doors, hanging bags and keys in place, and wiping the mirror and door handles.
If you like, she can sort out shoes that need cleaning and wipe them, and move anything unused to a spot you choose. It is a small job, but it changes how the flat feels from the first step inside.
The kitchen floor after family meals
In a big family’s home the kitchen floor needs a deep mop at least once a week, especially under the cupboards and around the fridge and oven, where grease and crumbs collect. It is a fixed part of our visits to As-Salamah homes.

The maid lifts bar stools and baskets off the floor, sweeps first, then mops with water and cleaner and wrings the mop well, gets down with a hand cloth into the corners under the cupboards that a mop cannot reach, wipes the cupboard plinths and puts everything back once dry. By then she has already washed the dishes and cleaned the sink and counters, so the floor comes last and does not get dirty again while she works.
If the kitchen opens onto the living room
Tell the maid what the living-room floor is, as tile and marble are mopped differently from parquet or wooden floors.
Bedrooms and fresh bedding
Changing the family’s bedding every week is one of the most common requests for the first visit of the week in As-Salamah. The maid strips the sheets and pillowcases and puts them in the washing machine, puts on clean covers, makes the bed and duvet and folds blankets at the foot.

In children’s rooms she puts books and toys back in place, vacuums under the beds, wipes desks and shelves and gathers dirty clothes for the wash. She never throws away a paper or item without asking; school papers in particular are gathered in one place and left for you. The visit ends with the washing hung or folded, and school uniforms ironed if you ask.
Before school starts and after the holidays: a reset visit
At the end of the holidays, before the first school week, family homes in As-Salamah need a longer visit than usual, because holidays upend the routine: trips, unopened suitcases, children home all day and back-to-back family visits. We suggest six hours with one maid, or two maids for four hours in a large flat. The maid unpacks suitcases and sorts clothes for washing, washes, irons and hangs school uniforms, tidies children’s wardrobes, wipes the desks and shelves for new books, then does the usual kitchen, bathrooms and floors. After a long trip, a closed-up flat also gathers dust and the fridge needs emptying and wiping; book the visit for the day you return or the next, and tell us if a neighbour or guard has the key.
Is the evening slot good for working mothers?
Yes. If you work in the morning, the evening slot lets you be home during the visit to guide the maid, who arrives at the time agreed at booking and handles laundry, kitchen and rooms while you help with homework. Any evening charge is confirmed when you book.
How many hours does an As-Salamah home need?
A three- or four-bedroom flat needs four hours with one maid on a weekly visit; for a large family with lots of laundry, five hours from SAR 182. A villa on As-Salamah’s inner streets needs six hours (from SAR 204) or eight hours (from SAR 274), or two maids for four hours (from SAR 296).
A 2-hour visit is not meant for a full clean, but it is useful between plan visits: for a big ironing pile before an occasion, or to clean the kitchen and bathrooms after relatives visit midweek.
What the maid does, and what she does not
The maid handles nearly all indoor housework, but some jobs are outside the visit. Here are the two lists clearly:
Included in the visit
- Tidying and cleaning the home room by room, with sweeping and mopping.
- Washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen and its surfaces.
- Cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms.
- Washing, ironing and folding clothes, school uniforms included.
- Inside window glass, and vacuuming majlis seating and rugs.
- Hospitality set-up and serving at gatherings with cleaning afterwards, Ramadan and Eid preparation, and cleaning when you move in or out.
Not included
- Cooking the family’s full meals.
- Staying alone with children or elderly relatives while parents are out.
- Any work on facades or at height.
- Moving heavy furniture.
That is why we ask for the mother or another woman of the house to be home during the visit, which fits the school-morning slot when mothers are usually at home.
The maid at your door: why we warn against her
In large residential districts like As-Salamah, women sometimes go from door to door offering hourly work directly to families, or move between homes by private arrangement. They are often absconded workers or have no legal residency, and employing them is a violation the householder answers for.
According to the General Directorate of Passports, sheltering, employing or transporting someone in breach of residency and labour rules, domestic workers included, can bring 6 months in prison and a SAR 100,000 fine, with the fine counted again for every additional violator. Our maids, on the other hand, hold valid iqamas, have been trained in housework, wear a modest uniform and are driven by the company to and from their accommodation.
