If you have recently moved to Saudi Arabia: an hourly maid, often called a part-time maid by expats, is a cleaner you book for a short block of hours. She is our employee, arrives in our transport, and leaves when the time is up; nothing about it is a live-in arrangement.
Are two hours enough for an Al-Marwah flat?
Yes, two hours is usually enough for a studio or one-bedroom flat that is cleaned regularly. In that time the maid cleans the kitchenette and bathroom, mops the floors and tidies the bed and living area. A two- or three-bedroom family flat needs 4 hours, and a large one 5 hours.
Flat sizes in Al-Marwah vary a lot, from studios and small units to flats of more than two hundred square metres, so we have put the suggested lengths into one table:
| Home type | What the maid covers | Suggested time |
|---|---|---|
| Studio | Kitchenette, bathroom, floor and making the bed | Two hours |
| One bedroom and living room | All of the above plus the living room and folding clothes | 2 to 3 hours |
| Two-bedroom flat | Kitchen, two bathrooms, bedrooms, living room and laundry | 4 hours |
| Three bedrooms or more | Everything above plus ironing and wardrobe tidying | 5 hours |
| Villa | All floors, bathrooms, sitting rooms and the kitchen | 8 hours or two maids |
These lengths are for regular visits. If the flat has not been cleaned for a while, or it is the first visit after moving in, go one step longer, and after that your visits can return to their normal length.

Al-Marwah: varied flats and residents near the airport
Al-Marwah is a district in north Jeddah close to King Abdulaziz International Airport. An-Nuzhah Road runs along its northern edge, and it is near both the Haramain Expressway and Prince Majed Road. Its neighbours include As-Safa, Ar-Rabwah and Al-Buraiman. Being close to the airport and the train station has made it a lively district, with plenty of cafés and shops on its main streets.
Al-Marwah residents are a real mix: Saudi and expatriate families, employees living alone, and university students sharing small flats. The housing is just as varied: buildings of about five storeys with two flats per floor, furnished apartments, studios, and some large villas, though far fewer of those. In practice, demand here splits between short visits for small flats, standard family visits, and long visits for villas.
One thing residents often mention is traffic and limited parking on some streets, especially near shops and cafés and on the airport side. We come back to this in the access section, because it affects when the maid can arrive.
Before a trip and after you get back
Living so close to the airport, many Al-Marwah residents travel often, for work or holidays. We suggest two kinds of visit for them. One the day before you fly: washing up, emptying the laundry basket and clearing perishable food from the fridge, so you do not come home to smells or insects. And one the day before you return, or on the day itself: dusting, fresh bedding and a clean bathroom.
In small flats neither visit needs more than two or three hours. The same applies if a visitor is flying in and you want the flat ready before they arrive, or if you are coming back from Umrah and want the home in order before well-wishers drop by.
Tip for travellers: we do not send a maid into an empty flat without prior arrangement. If nobody will be home, mention it when booking and we will agree a time when someone from the household can be there.
Hosting a guest or moving into a flat in Al-Marwah
If a guest is coming from outside Jeddah, and many Al-Marwah visitors land at the nearby airport, a two- or four-hour visit before they arrive gets the flat ready: a bed with fresh linen, a tidy bathroom with clean towels, a clean kitchen and an orderly living room. After they leave, a short visit puts everything back.
When you move into a new flat in the district, the best time to clean is before your things go in. An empty small flat needs about 4 hours, and a family flat 5 hours or more. After the move you can book a visit to unpack light boxes and organise the kitchen and wardrobes.
Cleaning bathrooms in Al-Marwah flats
The bathroom in a small flat gets heavy use, and it may be the only one for everyone living there, so it needs cleaning on every visit. The maid squeegees the shower screen from top to bottom so no water lines remain, removes scale from the mixer and shower head, cleans the basin, toilet and tiles, then rolls fresh towels and sets them on the shelf.

In flats shared by several people, a weekly bathroom clean keeps it acceptable for everyone instead of letting scale build up until it is hard to shift. If the water in your building leaves white spots on glass, tell us when booking so we can agree on a suitable cleaner.

A small flat relies on its wardrobes more than most, and when they fill up untidily the whole room feels cramped. The maid can sort the wardrobe shelf by shelf: bags and boxes on the top shelf, hanging clothes grouped by type or colour, folded clothes in the drawers, and anything you want to throw out or store set aside in a separate bag.

This job is ideal when the season changes, after you unpack from a trip, or when you move into a new flat in the district. In a small flat it can fit into a 4-hour visit alongside the usual cleaning, or you can add an extra hour if the wardrobe is large.
Laundry and ironing for people who work all week
For an employee living alone in Al-Marwah, laundry and ironing are often the heaviest chores of the week. During the visit the maid runs the washing machine, hangs the clothes, folds what is dry, and irons and hangs work shirts ready to wear. On a two-hour visit, laundry and ironing can be the main task, with just the bathroom cleaned, if that is your priority.
For employees and residents: fitting a visit around work
Choose the evening shift if you work during the day, or the morning shift if someone from the household is home in the daytime. Time is counted from the maid’s arrival at the flat, and we drop her off and pick her up, so you do not need to arrange transport.
Our standard is that a woman from the household is present during the visit. If your living situation is different, for example you live alone or with colleagues, say so clearly when booking and we will explain the arrangement available before confirming. If your schedule changes suddenly, message us on WhatsApp well before the visit so we can move it.
A furnished flat needs slightly different care, because the furniture may not be yours and any damage is charged to you at handover. So the maid wipes sofas and tables with soft cloths, cleans the equipped kitchen and its utensils, straightens bedding and indoor curtains without taking them down unless you ask, and returns every piece to its original place.
Shared housing, common among employees and students in the district, is best served by a fixed weekly visit whose cost the flatmates split. The visit focuses on shared areas: the kitchen, bathrooms, living room and hallway. If one flatmate also wants their room tidied, it is added to the task list, with extra time if needed.
When a lease ends, many Al-Marwah residents book a clean before handover, covering the kitchen, bathrooms, floors and the inside of the windows, so the flat is returned in a condition the landlord is happy with. That takes about 4 hours for a small flat and 5 hours or more for an empty family flat.
Parking and busy streets in Al-Marwah
Some Al-Marwah streets are crowded with little parking, so it helps to tell us a nearby spot where the driver can stop to drop the maid off. Sending the exact map location, with building, floor and flat numbers, saves a lot of minutes, especially on commercial streets or near cafés.
For buildings with more than one entrance: if your building faces two streets or has a back entrance, tell us which entrance the maid should use and any code or doorbell she needs.
What the visit does not include
Four things stay outside the visit: cooking complete meals, sitting alone with young children or elderly relatives, any work at height or on the building’s outside walls, and lifting heavy items. Everything else in the home the maid handles: tidying, sweeping and mopping, cleaning the kitchen and washing dishes, bathrooms, washing, ironing and folding clothes, wiping glass from the inside, setting up for guests, and readying a flat for a new tenant or for handover.
Note: the maid does not open up electrical appliances or touch any plumbing or wiring. If she notices a fault in an appliance or a leak, she will simply let you know.
How to book in Al-Marwah
Book by WhatsApp message or call on 0561940026, in these steps:
Describe your flat: studio or a flat with bedrooms, the number of bathrooms, and whether you want a general clean or one specific job.
Choose the length: two, four or five hours, or a weekly plan if you want a fixed slot.
Set the shift and day: morning or evening, on the day that fits your schedule.
Send the location and drop-off point: the map pin and flat number, and the closest place to drop the maid off.
Welcome the maid: she brings the basic cleaning tools, and products are as we agreed when booking.
Why a legal maid matters more than you think
Because the penalty for using an irregular worker does not fall on her alone. According to the General Directorate of Passports, employing someone who breaks residency or labour rules, giving them a ride in your car or housing them, including absconding domestic workers, can mean as long as half a year in jail and SAR 100,000 per violator. In the shared flats common in Al-Marwah, everyone living there could be caught up in it.
Under the domestic-worker rules, a maid sponsored by one household may not clean for another. The sponsor who lets it happen risks SAR 20,000 at most or a recruitment freeze of 3 years at most, while the worker herself faces a fine capped at SAR 2,000 and may be barred from working in the Kingdom. Violations can be reported through the Musaned channels run by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
The simple rule for Al-Marwah residents: do not let a maid into your flat unless you know which company she belongs to, even if she offers two hours for less or can come sooner. Asking for the company, its number and how to reach it after the visit is what protects your home and keeps you clear of liability, and a legitimate company gives you that from the first message.
Each of our maids holds a current iqama through us, has been trained, and arrive in a modest work uniform, so you know you are dealing with an organisation responsible for every visit.
Nationalities available in Al-Marwah
Our team includes African maids, such as Kenyan and Ugandan, as well as Bangladeshi maids, and who is available depends on your booking time. Found a maid you click with? Name her in your next booking and she will be rostered for you when free, which is handy if you book weekly, since she already knows where everything is in your flat.
- Before the visit: gather dirty clothes in a basket and put valuables somewhere locked.
- On a two-hour visit: pick two or three priority tasks so they get done in time.
- If you have delicate surfaces: tell the maid about marble or wood before she starts.
