If you are new to the Saudi way of doing this, an hourly maid (some expats say part-time maid) is simply a cleaner you book for a fixed number of hours. She works, she leaves, and she is employed by us rather than living in your home or under your sponsorship.
How much is an hourly maid in An-Nuzhah?
A 4-hour visit in An-Nuzhah starts from SAR 138, rising with extra hours or a second maid. We have picked out the prices that fit homes here, which are mostly family homes with a kitchen in use all week:
| Visit type | Details | From (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| One maid, four hours | Family flat, including the kitchen and washing up | 138 |
| Six hours | Hard-working kitchen plus the living-room and majlis rugs | 204 |
| Two maids for four hours | Getting ready for a gathering or clearing up after it | 296 |
| Eight hours | A large home or villa in the newer part of the district | 274 |
| 8-visit plan (four hours each) | Two visits a week for homes that host often | 885 |
These are starting prices. Your real total moves with visit length, maid count, home size and whether it is a morning or evening job. Before we confirm, we tell you whether Fridays, holidays or evenings carry any extra charge, so you know the whole figure from the start. If you need a task not listed here, ask about its price on WhatsApp.
An-Nuzhah and its homes: what it means for your visit
An-Nuzhah is a north Jeddah district close to King Abdulaziz International Airport. Prince Majed Road runs along its edge and links it to As-Salamah and Al-Faisaliyah, the Haramain Expressway is not far to the east, and Ar-Rabwah sits just to its south. Being so close to major roads and the airport has given the district a mix of very different pockets.
One part of An-Nuzhah is an older, working-class area that Jeddah Municipality has been reorganising, with older multi-storey family buildings, some of them without lifts. Another part is newer and planned, with quiet inner streets, new apartment blocks and villas, and many families prefer it. So visits vary from home to home: a large older flat needs more time in the kitchen and bathrooms because grease and limescale build up over the years, while a newer flat usually just needs regular cleaning and tidying.
What most An-Nuzhah homes have in common is a big family and a kitchen that never rests. Family meals are cooked every day, relatives gather at the weekend, and at special occasions the dining spread can stretch to dozens of people. That is why residents mostly ask the maid for the kitchen, the dishes and the rugs, rather than a general once-over of the bedrooms.

Kitchen first: how the maid handles a kitchen used every day
If you ask her to, the maid starts in the kitchen and normally gives it an hour and a half to two hours of a 4-hour visit. In that time she washes the stacked dishes and the big pots, dries and puts away the glasses, wipes counters and marble, clears hand marks and steam residue from the cupboard fronts, wipes the outside of the hob and the area around it, and gets the sink and tap shining.
If the fridge needs sorting, she can empty the shelves, wipe them and put the food back in a clear order, throwing out anything past its date once you have said it is fine. That alone can take an hour, so flag it in your message and we will size the visit around it. Inside the oven, the extractor hood and years of baked-on grease take longer still, and a 6-hour visit is the better fit.
Pots and dishes
Everything left after cooking washed, with cups and plates dried and stacked on the shelves.
Counters and cupboards
Marble and cupboard doors wiped, oil spots and steam marks cleared around them.
Sink and hob
Sink and tap scrubbed, the outside of the hob and the wall behind it wiped down.
Fridge and floor
Shelves reorganised on request, then the kitchen floor mopped at the end.
Bathrooms and laundry in big-family homes
After the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry are the next most common requests in An-Nuzhah. A home with six or eight people usually has more than one bathroom in use all day, and laundry baskets fill up fast, especially with school and work clothes.
In the bathrooms the maid cleans basins, toilets and tubs, wipes the tiles and nearby walls, polishes mirrors and taps, then washes and dries the floor. In older buildings limescale on tiles and taps can take longer and needs the right product, so tell us when booking and we will agree on materials. For laundry she runs the machine and hangs the clothes, folds what is dry, irons what the family needs for the week and puts it all away.
Because one home can hold so much of this work, larger families in An-Nuzhah often split it across two days a week: one day mostly for the kitchen and bathrooms, the other for clothes and bedrooms. Each visit is calmer and more thorough that way, and the home stays in order all week instead of slipping back after two days.
How many hours is right for an An-Nuzhah home?
A newer two- or three-bedroom flat usually needs 4 hours. A large older flat with a big kitchen and several bathrooms needs 5 or 6 hours. Villas in the planned part of the district need 8 hours with one maid or 4 hours with two.
Remember that time is not only about floor area. A small home after a big gathering can need longer than a larger one that is cleaned every week. So describe the home as it really is, and we will pick a length that gets everything finished, no more and no less.
Rugs and sitting rooms before and after gatherings
Before a gathering the sitting rooms and living room need the rugs vacuumed, small visible stains treated, cushions plumped, seating arranged and tables wiped. Afterwards it is the turn of the dining area, the dishes, the floors and the rubbish. This happens a lot in An-Nuzhah homes, so here is a table to help you choose a visit by occasion:
| Occasion | What the maid does | Suggested booking |
|---|---|---|
| Small family gathering | Majlis tidied, rugs vacuumed, serving trays and cups set out | Four hours |
| Large gathering at home | Preparation before guests, help serving, then cleaning after | Two maids or six hours |
| The morning after | Dishes and pots washed, dining area cleaned, floors mopped | Six hours |
| Getting ready for Ramadan or Eid | Whole kitchen, sitting rooms, rugs and guest rooms | Eight hours or two maids |
| Fixed weekly visit | Kitchen, dishes, bathrooms and general tidying | The twice-a-week plan |
Before Ramadan and before Eid
Many An-Nuzhah households start preparing for Ramadan a week or two ahead: bringing out the big serving dishes and washing them, reorganising kitchen cupboards for the month’s supplies, and cleaning the sitting rooms that will welcome relatives for iftar. Before Eid the same happens with guest rooms, bedding and any indoor curtains that come down easily.
Demand for maids rises across Jeddah in these seasons, so book early and fix your slot a few days ahead. You can also split the preparation into two visits, the first for the kitchen and serving ware and the second for the sitting rooms and bedrooms, rather than cramming everything into the day before.
Large rugs that need deep machine washing are outside an hourly visit; the maid vacuums them and treats small marks only. If there is a fresh coffee or juice stain, show it to her at the start of the visit, because it is far easier to deal with early.

Book nowWhatsApp 0561940026CallDoes an hourly maid cook? And what is not included?
No. Meals themselves are not part of the job, though she will happily rinse vegetables, do simple chopping, set out serving dishes and lay the table while someone in the family does the actual cooking. We get this question often in An-Nuzhah because of how homes run here, so we answer it up front.
The visit covers the rest of the usual housework: tidying rooms, sweeping and mopping, bathrooms, washing, ironing and folding, the inside of the windows, plus getting a flat ready for new tenants or handing one back. On the other hand, a visit does not include:
- Staying alone with young children or elderly relatives; that is care work, not cleaning.
- Cleaning exterior walls or working at dangerous heights.
- Lifting heavy furniture or carrying it between rooms.
- Cooking complete meals.
Please note: it is easier for everyone when a woman from the household is in during the visit, and it lets you steer the work according to your priorities.
Reaching older and newer buildings in An-Nuzhah
The driver finds you easily if you send an exact map location rather than just the district name. The older part of An-Nuzhah has narrow streets and similar-looking buildings, and the newer part has many inner streets with names that can be confusing, so an exact pin with the building number and floor saves everyone time.
If the building has no lift: mention the floor when you book. The maid carries her own tools, and knowing the floor in advance helps us plan her arrival time accurately.
Being close to the airport and Prince Majed Road means traffic picks up at certain times of day. That is why some An-Nuzhah families prefer the morning shift, when roads are lighter. Either way, your booked hours start only when the maid walks in, so none of them is lost to the journey.
Steps to request an hourly maid in An-Nuzhah
Request a visit by WhatsApp message or phone call; it takes a few minutes:
Introduce your home: An-Nuzhah, flat or villa, how many rooms and bathrooms, and whether most of the work is in the kitchen or the sitting rooms.
Mention any occasion: a gathering, the day after guests, or Ramadan preparation, so we can suggest the length and number of maids.
Agree on time and materials: we confirm the day, the shift and the price, and settle who supplies the cleaning products.
Share your location: drop the map pin and add the building number, floor and any nearby landmark.
The maid arrives and begins: with her basic tools, starting with whatever you marked as first; you can extend by an extra hour from SAR 52.
A legal maid versus an instant maid with no company
The legal maid is the safe choice, because legal liability for an irregular worker also falls on whoever employs her. In Jeddah, as elsewhere, you will see offers for maids who can come immediately at a low price with no responsible company behind them, and many of them have absconded from their employers or are working outside the rules.
Under Article 15 of the Domestic Workers Regulation, nobody may let or send his domestic worker to clean for other households or freelance. Article 30 exposes the worker to a SAR 2,000 maximum fine and possible exclusion from work in Saudi Arabia, and the employer who allowed it risks as much as SAR 20,000 or a 3-year block on recruiting.
These rules are enforced. Al Watan reported 568 ministry decisions against violators, 222 of them aimed at employers whose domestic workers had been cleaning elsewhere. And the Passports directorate puts the price of employing, driving or housing a violator at as much as half a year in prison plus SAR 100,000.
Who will be coming to your home?
A legally employed maid working for our company on a valid residency permit, trained in cleaning and household organisation, and dressed in a modest work uniform. The nationalities currently on offer are African, such as Kenyan and Ugandan, along with Bangladeshi, and what is free changes with the time of your booking.
If your family has got used to one maid and likes the way she handles the kitchen and the dishes, you can ask for her by name next time, and she comes back whenever her rota has room. This is especially useful on the twice-a-week plan, because she learns where things live and how your family likes things done.
Morning or evening, and moving a booking
We work two shifts, morning and evening, and you choose whichever suits you. Mornings are good for the kitchen after the family breakfast and before lunch preparation, or for the morning after a gathering. Evenings work for getting the majlis ready before guests who arrive at night, or for households that are empty until late afternoon.
If your plans change, say the gathering is postponed or you travel at short notice, message us on WhatsApp as soon as you can before the appointment, and we will reschedule the visit or change the maid depending on availability.
Before the maid arrives: gather the dirty dishes in one place by the sink, put out any products you prefer for marble or wood, and keep valuables in a closed room. These small things give her more time for the real work.
